Can't blame the defense for not being able to hold the Greatest Show on Turf defending Superbowl Champion Rams a whole game either. Not many teams were able to do that. They weren't called the greatest show on turf cause they performed tricks on their motorbikes.
Excuses excuses. Sure I can blame 'em. Why can't I blame 'em? Darn straight I blame 'em. I'm sure not gonna do what you do and blame the offense. That's silly. The Rams didn't score on our offense. They scored (over and over again) on our defense. Can't blame 'em? Oh, I think I can.

"Not Many" means some did right? Why not ours? OH, I remember, our offense did it. LMMFAO

Well, can't argue with that logic now can we?

Seems to me Crawdad that you could argue with a stop sign. No reason I can see for you to change now, but the water is nearly boiling.

I guess your name calling is cute to you saintfan, good thing I don't have to think up easily discredited stats to prove my point. I guess I could come up with some names for that, but no need to go to that level.

Forget the name-calling, simple facts. Were the 49'ers led by? I forgot whom it was that QB them, we had a shoot out at home about 60 points scored. Or in St.Louis again another total of 60 points scored, and the Rams offense is nowhere near what it used to be, they struggle to score 14 points these days.

It's plain and simple no matter how much you hate AB, you are able to stop people with your defense, get turnovers and score defensively, you'll have a great season. No matter how good your offense is, you don't do that you have a early trip home no playoffs. You want to look at Peyton Manning, he and AB were having the exact same problem, prior to Dungy taking over in Indy. Guess what since Dungy came there and brought a symbol of a defense, the Colts win more than they use to.

Putting AB in the same sentence of Manning is really funny === AB would make a good back up to Manning though

Okay -- so AB took over a 7-3 team -- limped into the playoffs by going 3-3 and then won 1 playoff game (wildcard) -- The very next year he regressed to 9-7, and keeps getting worse every year -- (kinda makes you think it was more Blake than Brooks) -- but in any case these amazing feats make him the best Saints QB of all time -- that makes him a top 5 Qb in the league -- PLEASE ===

But I will put another spin on it -- AB has only won 1 playoff game making him better than Archie who won 0. That means anyone and everyone who has won more than 1 playoff game is better than Brooks. Want to go down that road son. Lets see using your own logic --- name the starting QBs last year that Brooks was better than ---

again... I am defending my stance that AB is or could very well be the best QB we have had... playing for us. Stats are leaning that way and for those who say winning big games matters well 1 playoff victory proves my point to none as well.

I've read the first couple of pages to this topic and got bored. However, there are a few things that "struck a nerve."

One is people saying according to stats, Brooks is better than Archie. You have to take into consideration the surrounding cast and just the fact that the league, now, is completely more advanced than it was back then. Often, you will find today's mediocre players breaking old legends' stats.

Another thing is this: Yes, Brooks has made plenty of great plays, but his bad plays are extremely bad and, yes, "childish." People get upset with Brooks, not just because he threw an interception, but the fact that he threw it while he was his own 20 yard line giving the opposing offence an easy chance to score. You don't see these situations when you look at stats. You don't see Aaron Brooks fumbling a scoring opportunity only to give the possession to the opposing team in stats. The only thing that appears in the statistics book is 1 Fumble Loss.

There are no categories for "mistakes at critical times" in statistics.

Yes, the defense was bad, but some of the blame can be put on the offense. Someone should do research and see how often the opposing team received the ball on the Saints' side of the 50 yard line to start their drive. Its kind of hard to stop a team from scoring when you only have to give up 15 yards to let the other team in field goal range.

In essence, what makes Brooks hated isn't that he throws interceptions and fumbles. All quarterbacks do that. The reason Brooks is hated is because he does so flagrantly (not on purpose, of course). How impressive is it when you're at the dome chanting on your Saints team next to a fan of the opposing team, and you watch the ball just mysteriously fly backwards out of Aaron Brooks' hand? It's not just a fumble. Its embarassing!
