I tend to agree and I think time distorts perception. Akiem is a very good player now but he wasn't giving 100% while in NO. Some of that blame falls on our coaching staff at the time though ... especially the Big Lebowski (Rob Ryan). He tried to re shape his players (benching Hicks in favor of Richardson)to fit a "system" rather than doing what the above average coaches do.

Gotta believe things would have been a lot different for Akiem in New Orleans if Coach Nielsen was the DL coach during those times.

IMO AHicks was a very good draft pick by us but required the proper coaching & personnel to shine.

I agree k he didn't give his all here and now is sour about us and the fact they lost to nick f’n foles in the playoffs when they were supposed to be shoo-ins. His kind comes and goes, he’ll get that way in chicago too.

I blame Payton more than Rob Ryan for the disastrous couple years.

Payton badly wanted to imitate Seattles defense after it shut us down in the 2013 playoffs, so he got rid of Jenkins and Harper in favour of Byrd and then went out and got Browner and drafted Stanley Jean Baptiste with a God damn 2nd round pick......

He was trying to mold a successful 2013 unit into his own version of Seattles D and it had the adverse effect.

Payton didn't like a guy that wouldn't listen, so he brought Dennis Allen in to be Rob's overseer knowing he could get rid of Rob at any moment and have his friend take over.

Dont get me wrong, Allen built a great D last year, just giving my opinion on matters.

All he wanted to do was make his career out of what he is use to doing which is bull rushing. Saints said no. Lose some weight, we need you to do this.

He refused because he is lazy in that aspect. He could have been an annual Pro Bowler if he would have adapted and learned new skills.

He achieved success but it could have been so much more. Rankins is a much better player IMO. He has more skills minus injuries. Even with the injuries, his highlights are more impressive. He has made some amazing plays. One was in coverage which is crazy.

The thing about Hicks is he didn't have the advantage of our DL coach; our DL and Lb coaches sucked. The talent was there but the developing was lacking.

Realistically, what player not named Brady or Edelman do they ever keep in New England?

Hicks developed a respectful relationship with former Saints GM Ryan Pace (now GM with the Bears) while in NO so I can somewhat see why he decided to sign there.

U guys really believe that come on. Hicks took plays off he did it here and the pattern continued there.we got a TE that played 5 plays in 2 years for him .
