He was over the hill by the time he coached New Orleans -- much like the other washed up ones we brought in Bum Phillips etc -
But there was an article in the USA today a couple of days ago that were talking about how he always was loved by his team - supposedly after they got out of football he would help them adjust/get them jobs etc. He treated all players with respect -- and when he saw players families in the stand he treated them like family -- They interviewed 4 old Chief players and they all said he was a wonderful person -- and in the Hall of Fame introduction he was quoted as saying -- freinds are like personal angels - I heard he was a great guy -- the NFL could use more classy guys like him |
