That’s the holdup. 1.5 mil isn’t a make or break number for the Saints. Does anyone really think they would let 1.5 come between signing him or not? The FO isn’t going to risk that to save a dime. I bet the numbers are agreed upon. He will get his 20. All they are doing now is structuring it.

Pat Kirwan talked about the Thomas/Saints deal yesterday or the day before on NFL Radio. He said they are probably negociating between a $50 million guarantee or $20 million per annum. He said the saints should be willing to do either, but not both.

Thomas will be fine. As AG suggested, this is an excellent opportunity to increase repoire with other receivers, especially Cooks...

I'm watching the Div Playoff game against the Eagles right now.
It's my first time seeing it on tv as I was at the game.

Mike was freaking unstoppable in that game.
I just can't see not paying him.

Indeed he was. When the rest of the offense was struggling, MT went off.

He is the best reciever in the league right now. We would be insane to not pay him.

Difficult part about where we are in the Thomas negotiations is the guaranteed money vs the total potential contract per year; Thomas and agent want both...

I'd prefer increasing the guaranteed portion so as to reward his play; also, I'd prefer a lower starting point when this contract must eventually be re-worked down the road...

Mike's been awesome, and will become more lethal as other offenseive options (e.g. Cook, Kirkwood, Tre'Quan et al) become more proficient, impacting Thomas' numbers, but making the Total Offense better...

That'll be the highest for a few days. Julio's deal will pass that up, as will Amari Cooper's. In two years Thomas will likely be the 7th or 8th highest paid WR in the league and still producing in the top two or three.

But the Saints made him the first to break the barrier, and he should be able to make the car note without the repo man harassing him...

Don't see us paying Rankins beyond this year now because we have Onyemata, Lattimore, Ramczyk, Marcus Williams, Kamara and Anzalone to compensate...
