I can tell that 75% of the players that played 90% of the game won't even be on the opening roster. Trying to surmise anything about the team is foolish at this point. Offensive and defensive squads are only as good as their weakest link and around a third of the current 90 man roster are weak links that are playing the majority of the snaps.

That is true but look what the Rams did with their backups. That means depth if they keep that up. We can't build good depth with that level of whiffing. A handful of injuries and we're screwed. It's just PS but it's fundamental stuff.

All true but the 2 players that were being discussed will be on the team without question and they played well.

Latavius is a great addition I don't get all the nay sayers. Different style from Ingram but to me a better skill set fit for the offense ... opinion.

Bridgewater looked comfortable and made some good throws. Held the ball too long on several occasions and did not seem inclined to leave the pocket. Probably mission statement at this point. He's not Brees but again who is ... caution opinion ... I think there is only 1 maybe 2 QB's that have level understanding and command of their offense and the game to execute at Brees level. We have been very lucky as fans to have Brees and Peyton together.

I am listening to u gumbo but some of the players that will be here as solid#2s did diddly squat. Bad tackling getting dominated by #2s & 3s but we are slow starters that’s a fact I’ll give y’all that. The guy who says preseason is not a competitive game is on crack no I apologize for that statement . He has never played in a football game. U go in any football game half asre u will be cut/ injured.

Murray did raise some eyebrows. I still think it will be a 3 RB attack system.

Murray is not a young man, real close to 30 and dealing with some injuries and the season hasn't even started. Ozigbo looked great. If we can keep Murray fresh he's going to own the 4th quarter.

I'm no astrophysicist but I know that space is pretty big.

We're not the scouting dept or coaching staff, but we know bad football play when we see it. Pat Swilling said the pass rush was bad...he's a subject matter expert. But we didn't need his word for it to come to that conclusion.

Look at the story of 2 teams last nite we are not set on subs. It’s a lot to clean up ala Payton. Their D backs played man we played soft coverage it tells nothing . But it is what we saw. Minn is ahead of the game. Our receivers were covered like polyester curtains . Theirs roamed free like buffalo on the prairies.

Teddy Bridgewater has solid outing against his former team
Charean Williams,ProFootball Talk on NBC Sports 14 hours ago

Teddy Bridgewater had a chance to leave for Miami in the offseason. He chose to return for another season behind Drew Brees in New Orleans.

With Brees sitting out the preseason opener Friday night, Bridgewater got a chance to start against the team that drafted him 32nd overall in 2014.

Bridgewater, 26, played the entire first half against the Vikings. The Saints ran 33 plays and gained 168 yards in the first half, with Bridgewater turning a 14-12 halftime deficit over to third-string quarterback Taysom Hill. The Vikings won the game, 34-25.

Bridgewater went 14-for-19 for 134 yards, a touchdown and a 110.3 passer rating.

His touchdown pass came in the two-minute drill, an 18-yarder to Dan Arnold with 44 seconds left in the half. His two-point pass attempt, though, was incomplete.

Bridgewater spent four seasons in Minnesota before signing with the Jets as a free agent. The Jets traded him to the Saints before the start of last season.

Re: Saints vs Vikings Game Day Thread

- Really liked what I saw from Ozigbo (avg 6.7 ypc). In limited action, he looked good. And stop it with the Latavius Murray bashing ... not only is he a bull dozer, he has explosion with the one cut more. He made 5, 6 yards out of virtually nothing on a couple of runs.

- Teddy B is sharp and has really matured. Accurate thrower of the football. Outside of holding on to the ball a second too long, he played a good game. MN announcers mentioned it a lot of times how he's matured as a QB. Well ahead of Taysom at this point.

- Erik McKoy - quietly solid all night long. Solid for a rookie center.

Cut that tackle Newhouse. He's a walking turn style and will get a QB seriously injured.

D line - uuuggh. Serious concerns here. Zero outside pass rush. Nothing from Davenport, Mario Edwards or T Rex last night. Stallworth was just a hair late but he has some good moments. Technique has to get better by all. Easy to see why we were interested in Ziggy Ansah and Quinn. I still don't see the replacement for Alex Okafor on the roster yet.

- Dan Arnold - meh. Too up and down, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for my taste. I don't see him as nothing more than a #3 TE.

CGJ and Hampton were relatively quiet ... Chauncey did make a nice tackle on special teams and also tackled the guy to prevent a 2 pt conversion.

- Grayson and the Assumption kid impressed me on special teams. Cyril is a weapon with that speed.

- PRob was burned like a brisket by 2nd teamer who will be working at LA Fitness in Sept. Not sure if it was rust or what but man ...

All in all, only pre season game 1. Hopefully we get to see more of the rookies (including E Butler) in the next game.

Keep grinding.
