I was mad about the no call last season but I don't like this rule change at all.

And don't think ole' Roger want use the opportunity to hang this albatross on Payton and the Saints Franchise...

It'll be subtle, behind the scenes even, aided by his friendlies in the press like some blow-heart like Peter King and that type...

But it's coming, wait for it...

The rule change did nothing to prevent the no-call from happening again.

I don't know about that jp. He looks bad after we were robbed and he knows it. The whole world knows we were robbed. My guess is he won't attack the Saints this year....except for the "random" drug tests after a great game.

However, I don't doubt that he will look for anything to penalize us for.....but the rule change won't be blamed on the Saints. NFL fans are smarter than we look.

Washington Post: Roger Goodell admits blown call in Rams-Saints; NFL will consider replay for pass interference

Hang it on the Saints, hang yourself Roger. You Kneaux? Or was it all for Sheaux?

Well yes and no. The problem last year is that there was no recourse one the call was made. Now, at least in theory, if such a terrible (non) call happened again, it can be reviewed. The problem is that the review can still be screwed up, ending in the same result as if there was no rule.

My opinion is that it's better to have a chance to have it looked at than not. However, as I posted in the Spring, I would not have made it part of the regular review process because coaches are going to be throwing flags every game as pass interference is one of the penalties that does the most damage.
So on both sides, coaches are going to want to minimize the impact of PI right or wrong.

I would have added a flag that can only be thrown once per season. So instead of throwing flags all the time, coaches would hold that flag until the most impactful or desperate moment to use it, like last year.

We will see I guess.

Or go to the "Sky Judge" like the short lived AAFL had.

Exactly. The only thing that may make a difference is if they were to penalize these refs who make blatant bad or no calls. Yes I realize that the refs with the best rating get to go to the playoffs but obviously that doesn’t mean squat.
Suspend, fine, take out back and flog, I don’t care but hit them where it hurts.
Just like anyone else whose job it is to be right, these guys hate to admit when they get it wrong.
Damn near 4 minute review and the call is still questionable? Wtf!

Oh and yes NFL fans will indeed blame the Saints if this winds up being a **** show. Goodell has a Masters Degree in deflection.
He could **** his pants right in front of his wife and convince her that she’s the one who did it.

I understood a "performance" bonus to be a part of their compensation package, no?

Re: Bad call in Cowboys-Rams highlights more problems with PI replay review

The rule change was the result of us completely over-reacting and blaming that entire loss on just one play. Shouldn't have blew a 13 and 10 point lead in the same game. Not to mention turning the ball over in OT when we had the chance to end it right there after piddling around for the whole 4th quarter when we should've throttled that Rams team.

I didn't like this rule change when it was proposed. I clearly said it would open the Pandora's box for worse to come afterwards and here we are, only in preseason and seeing it.

I don't want to hear a word about the non-call ever again if this PI review comes back to bite us in the butt this year...
