Saints DE Trey Hendrickson playing 'a little stronger' thanks to putting on weight
1 Attachment(s)
Third-year defensive end Trey Hendrickson was a force to be reckoned with on Sunday, as he constantly disrupted the Chargers offense when he was lining up in place of Cameron Jordan.
Saints coach Sean Payton partially attributed his play to his weight. Hendrickson currently clocks in at 270 pounds, which Payton said is more than he weighed in at some point last year. "I like where his weight is at," Payton said, adding later that, "Last year, I thought his weight got a little light. This year, he's playing a little stronger and a little heavier. " Hendrickson's stats didn't jump off the charts as he technically only had one tackle, but he came quite close to sacking Tyrod Taylor at least once and members of the Chargers offensive line were called for holding three times while blocking him. https://bloximages.newyork1.vip.town...ze=1700%2C1133 "270 feels good," Hendrickson said. "I don't know if the weight was proportional. This is the strongest I've been." Hendrickson added that he used "discipline" for getting his weight right. NOLA |

He was disruptive.

Gotta have sand in the pants to anchor the edge of the defense...
Trey is a slower-developing DE/LB Ryan Kerrigan; suspect part of his problem is accepting he's not starting and that when he does get opportunities, he's got to be perfect... He needs more reps, but in this defense, he's got to get bigger, stronger; in a 3-4 or a 4-3 over, he'd be more productive with more snaps... |

Was never a Trey fan, not a hater tho, but I’ll say that he had the best performance on D (Bell too).
It’s evident that he put in some work over the off season, hopefully he pushes Davenport to get to his full potential. I remember thinking Cam Jordan was a waste of a 1st round pick after his rookie year. He only had one sack although he was the main starter, good against the run but never got there in the pass rush game. Now Cam might be the best all around DE in the league... off season work matters. |

I'm not the biggest Trey fan either however he's bringing the heat in 2019. He's had a very good training camp & looked good yesterday. That Chargers tackle had no answer (3 holding calls) on yesterday. TRex "concerns" come vs the run and the inability to "set the edge" ... something Okafor excelled at.
As of right now, he's solidifying the 3rd DE in rotation. "Disruption = production" - JJ Watt. |

He always seemed to be in the backfield, missed a few tackles I think though.
He probably realized he needs to produce this year or pack his rags |
