Serious injury but he is a young man. Any relapses though he is done with football. Probably 50/50 chance he makes it through the season. Should have drafted a DT but went with safeties.

Good news! From what I understand its quite rare to re-injure an achilles tendon if it is properly healed. Hope that is the case for big Rankins!

My understanding is that if they had kept him on the PUP list, he would not have been eligible to come back until week 8 of the season. This clears the way for him to come back sooner, but it's not like he's going to be out there suiting up against Miami tomorrow night. He still has easily at least a month or more of healing and rehabbing left to do. But it's sounding like he will definitely be back for the big divisional stretch in November, of Atlanta x 2, Carolina and Tampa.

It just seems a little early for that type of injury. Im no doctor I just want dude 100 percent for the playoffs.

They are giving him a shot to play. It's more of a procedural thing than he's ready to play thing. If he continues to progress, he can play a little earlier. If he doesn't, they will just IR him. Hopefully Mr. Rankins and the medical staff will get it right.
