I have a good feeling about this guy with Nolan coaching him. On the other hand I don't have a good feeling about Anzalone and Robertson missing time and tight lipped Payton doesn't ease my nerves. Although, this hiring says volumes to me about injuries and depth at the LB'er position.

I am pumped about his move. Alonzo is an established starter with a high motor. He doesn't miss games and can step into any of the three 4-3 positions if shuffling is needed. We got a steal out of Miami's tanking.

But part of the reason why Alonso bounced around from Buffalo to Philadelphia before ultimately ending up in South Florida with the Dolphins. was because he suffered back-to-back knee injuries with both teams, and thus he was considered injury-prone or “damaged goods” to most NFL front-office personnel League-wide.

However, to his credit: Alonso was then able to play injury-free for the majority of his time in Miami and started 46 out of a possible 48 games, which allowed him to display his non-stop, aggressive motor and superb “sideline-to-sideline” tackling fundamentals — as well as the capability to fill those three specific linebacker roles in the Dolphins’ 4-3 defensive scheme similar to that ran by the Saints and defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.

In his past 3 seasons with the Dolphins from 2016 thru 2018, the 6-foot-3. 239 pound Alonso was among the NFL defensive leaders in tackles (115 in 2016 and once again in 2017); before he posted another 125 tackles last season. He also had three interceptions and three forced fumbles, along with 6 passes defensed, 3 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery, in the 2018 NFL season.

Great another injury prone veteran signing. All we need is a couple of bottles of champagne and some strippers and he and Murray will be partying in the hot tub all season.

He could really work out for us. The one concern I have is his reputation and track record of absolute dirty hits and head-hunting. We have a physical defense that don't have to rely on dirty hits, so hopefully he can iron this out.

The Saints are saying he's better than the guy they traded away. And he has a higher cap hit. I guess it will remain to be seen.

Probably not. It is getting far too close to the beginning of the season for The Dude to be doing anything but but looking for the black cloud in a clear blue sky.

He had a hit on Flacco that drew a flag, but not a suspension, and a late hit on a sliding Andrew Luck. Big deal. Sounds to me like an aggressive player, not some sort of head-hunter.

Go on Youtube and search 'Kiko Alonso dirty hits'

He has a reputation for head hunting and we are the fan base of Bountygate. All it will take is one fine and/or suspension, and everyone will be screaming ridiculous Goodell conspiracies.

If he can avoid doing stupid stuff like this though, he might be a great pickup. I would've been over the mood for this trade a few years ago.

Looks like he was trying to avoid the hit to me. He dove over the sliding player making no contact until the back of his leg hit the player. And there were no "bounties" and anyone that matters in the game knows that. And any reference to "head-hunting" by Alonzo is solely in response by a bunch of whinny-assed Ravens fans over the Flacco hit on social media.

Oh, and search for "great hits" on youtube by any hard-hitting LB and you'll see the exactly same plays.

I like the move. Coaches saw something they liked and he came cheap.
