Brees Injury Assessment
 

I'm NOT a doctor but have spent about a year and a half in PT for a couple of hand injuries.

If I had to guess it's serious ligament damage. His thumb is basically useless. He put tape on it then took it off. The tape did nothing so he said screw it.

He was not trying to throw or moving that thumb. It will take a LONG time to heal. 6-7 months for average folk. He might be able to recover in 5 tops.

I could be totally WRONG but that is what I see from experience of having hand injuries, being around people with them. It will heal but it takes time. He will be back or close to it end of season. Good news is there was no severe swelling form what I could see. That is a good sign. Swelling occurs with broken bones and severe bruising. It look like ligament damage which is MUCH better than broken.

I sprained my wrist late July on the punching bag and was down maybe a solid two months LEGIT SPRAIN

It should not for a pro athlete as I stated but it is still months. If he has nerve damage it's over. That does indeed take 6-7. No way around it unless he has some special drug not sold to the public but I'm not a doctor, just looking at it from what I know from personal experience. I don't think it's broke though. It would have swole up like a balloon if it was broken.

Likely a torn UCL... which does take 4 month to heal. Brees is done for the season.
Brees would be so concerned if it wasn’t serious. He is going to a specialist right away after seeing xrays... that’s not a good sign.

Drew's body language said a lot in the press conference, he was not a happy camper. When he said substantial injury that pretty much summed it up. All we can do now is hope for the best and deal with the outcome. Knowing Drew he's probably practicing with the other hand.

Drew called it significant from how it felt, the NFL is saying ligament.

Well maybe TB and the coaching staff can be more prepared for this weeks game. I'm sure there's gonna be some different looks on offense. And TB will take all the reps this week.

If anything, it should be interesting to see how the organization handles this and how the team reacts to life without Brees for a while.

Drew is definitely the unquestioned leader of the team. He hit the sideline and it took the wind out of the sails.

All hope is not lost. Hell even Dion Sanders thinks the Saints will still take the divison with or without Brees.

Sometimes when it hurts ain’t a bad thing it’s when u can’t feel crap in it and the floor is full of blood that’s a bad thing.
