I imagine it's to add some tenacity and blocking ability to the TE group.

Josh Hill got embarrassed last week trying to block anyone.

We have a plethora of D-linemen currently. Meanwhile Payton needs better blocking and a short area ball catcher to take the pressure off of our young QB's.

I liked Derby too. I have a feeling that he'll be back.
