So will Bridgewater ever throw the ball down the field?

If we dink and dunk on the cowboys Sunday night, it's gonna look like the nightmare of a night Drew had last year.

They are gonna take Kamara out of the game. That's happening. They will also double Thomas.

So can we get the ball deep to Ginn or can Cook finally make an appearance this year? Those are the two players who will need to make a solid impact for us to have any chance at beating the cowboys.

Last year it was helmet to helmet that wasn't called that took him out. I hope he takes that personally

Yes he will.

There's a big difference between the game plan the coaches came up with for a wet road game in Seattle with a QB who hadn't played a meaningful game in 3 years versus the one I think we'll see at home with a QB who played decent and got his first win in a very long time. Will he go deep? Hide and watch...

Who are we talking about?

In the Dallas game?

Re: So will Bridgewater ever throw the ball down the field?

I'm starting to see Bridgewater slowly, albeit very slowly, grow confidence in his passing. I really wish this game was in like 2 weeks, cause I think Teddy will be much better in a game or 2. He's going to need to throw the ball up field on dallas, cause they have too much lateral speed. With the way our offense is built, the cowboys defense is probably our kryptonite. I think the Bears have a better defense overall, but I think we'd fair better against them than Dallas. Still I think we can beat Dallas(it'd be much easier if we had Brees, but we can do it with Bridgewater). Our defense will have to have its A game, and Teddy is going to have to let some throws fly up-field. We are probably going to have to stretch the field over the top to open up the running game. A couple of really good throws over the top can change the entire game and how their defense approaches us. We can then start to run and take the advantage of play-action. They are the one team that our normal offensive strategy will not work on.

When Payton gives him the go ahead to throw it down field he'll go deep. Until then probably not.

Well if it doesn't happen Sunday, we are most certainly going to lose this game.

Wait...what? The pro bowl qb isn’t allowed to throw downfield?

Re: So will Bridgewater ever throw the ball down the field?

“Getting permission”, “slowly getting confidence”, “getting his own game plan”, “getting used to playing with starters”

Can we knock it off? $10M highest paid backup doesn’t need any of the white glove treatment. We acting like the guy’s just learning to throw a spiral.

Did Gardner Mischew get any of this? Or the Jones kid on the Giants? No. It’s football. You don’t need permission to throw a deep pass, just a pair of nuts and Mike Thomas

Re: So will Bridgewater ever throw the ball down the field?

And I’m not knocking Teddy, he beat Seattle in Seattle.

I’m knocking the way we treat him as if we need to feed him peas with a bib on. He can do it

He will throw it downfield. Dallas will focus on Thomas and Kamara but no way is Payton letting that go down again. Teddy will find the seams. The rest of our receiving corp will have to step up. Ginn, Lil Jordon, and Cook have to make plays.

We’ve been waiting for the receiving corps to step up for two years now..
This would be a good time for Murray to make an appearance.

Who's "Murray?"

Re: So will Bridgewater ever throw the ball down the field?

Murray may step up. Hard to say but after that W he might show more fight. Morale is a dangerous thing. Running out of bounds might be off the table. If there was ever a team this is it for him. He might decide to show up to the party.

Re: So will Bridgewater ever throw the ball down the field?

No, he's been told to manage the game nothing more. If it wasn't for Kamara his stats would've been in the dog house. He would've been 10 for 17 for 85 yards and 1 TD.

But we won.

The Saints left Seattle victorious. Who cares how we got it.

I would not be surprised to see it come early in the Dallas game, but. I could see us running a play action, faking to give Kamara the ball and having Ginn and maybe Harris blaze on deep routes. Thomas underneath and Kamara on a dump route as a last option.

Ginn is the team's only deep threat. He's hit and miss, miss, miss at best. Thomas and Kamara are going to have to carry the load. Even with Brees, the offense is just not a stretch the field type of roster.

Ginn gets open deep a lot. Our QB’s can’t make the throws.

When you say down field and you mean over 10-15 yards then yes. Well, maybe.

Yes I'm not specially meaning Ginn streaking downfield. I'm talkng about a 15-20 yard air pass to Cook in the seam, a 15-20 yard post pattern to Thomas, etc.

If we dink and dunk like we did against Seattle (who defensively had an atrocious game plan against us), then Dallas D will eat us alive.

They are going to eat us alive anyway.
