Drew Brees says his thumb is getting stronger every day
 

Via Garland Gillen of WVUE-TV, Brees said that he can now brush his teeth, floss his teeth, and pick up a glass of water. Brees added that he couldn’t do those things only a few days ago.

He'll heal quicker than most but there is still a choke point. Trying to do too much can have the reverse effect. Small gains, heal, small gains, heal. It's still going to be a while. 5 -6 weeks minimum.

I'm starting to think he'll be back against Jville.

That's 4 1/2 weeks, roughly 10 days ahead of schedule.

It was cool seeing him continuous rehab on the sideline. Can you imagine if we had this defense with ANY other offense we have fielded in the past under Payton?

Thank you baby Jesus! We cant continue much longer on the backs of our defense. The only good thing that came of this is we now know TB is not the future.

The Saints are going to have to protect Brees from himself. Go the full time until the bye and come back for the division stretch starting with the Clowns on November 10th.

That is what I was thinking also. Divisional games are what truly matter. Give him the extra week from the bye and come back blasting! The last thing we need is for him to rush back and re-injure his thumb.

Saints are 3-1 ... (2-0 with TB).

I wouldn't expect Brees back until after the bye, then matched up against a bad Atl team. Really no reason to "rush" back unless the bottom falls out and we drop the next 2.

Just watching him pace back and forth on the sidelines vs Dallas ... he is itching to get back out there.

I'd say the Arizona game, even though he'd get another 2 weeks before ATL.

Cannot see him active for Jacksonville (which is a shame because I am going:( ), and Chicago is still a stretch.

I expect Brees to be back as soon as he feels able. This surgery allows for a quick return because the internal brace will make the joint stronger than its original structure. If he is deemed 100% prior to the bye there is no reason to hold him out any longer.
