No need to apologize, Teddy; it's all good as long as Saints keep finding ways to win

1 Attachment(s)
Teddy Bridgewater apologized to Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen following Sunday's game.

Not that the Saints' backup quarterback really needed to.

Nobody in the Saints' close-knit locker room cares about how they win or who gets the credit.

They only care about the end result, which for the fourth straight week without Drew Brees was another Saints victory.

Simply put, the Saints just keep scrapping and finding ways to win.

Sometimes it's been an all-around performance. Other times it's been Bridgewater. And sometimes, like Sunday, it's the defense.

"Make plays and have more points than the other team at the end," Saints left tackle Terron Armstead put it frankly.

When this one ended on a sunny afternoon in Florida, the scoreboard at TIAA Bank Field read Saints 13, Jaguars 6.

"Great teams find ways to win and dig deep within," Bridgewater said. "It feels good to get back on the plane and go back to New Orleans with a win."

The large contingent of Saints fans who made the trip to the Sunshine State chanted "Ted-dy, Ted-dy" again, just like they did seven days earlier in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. But the chants on this Sunday should have gone to the defense, which for the second time in three weeks ruled the day.

It's why Bridgewater, who was solid (24 of 36 passes for 240 yards and a touchdown) but not as spectacular as last week, offered that apology to Allen.

"I'm sorry," Bridgewater told him. "I don't want to have to put you in that situation where you're having to fight all game and making it hard on you."

The only points the defense allowed were a pair of field goals in the first half.

Nothing but respect for Teddy. He is a class act.

Aren't y'all happy we have a guy like this leading while Brees is out and not a douchebag like Baker Mayfield?

No one gave him a chance to be 4-0. He is doing the most important thing and that's protecting the ball and not putting the defense in bad position. Kudos to Teddy B for being a leader and having great character!

I told my daughter I expected him to go 3-3, and if the Defense stepped up maybe we would be 3-3 or 4-2 and if they could work the offense to his strengths instead of Brees we would probably go 4-2 and with lucky breaks maybe 5-1.

In all honesty I expected a 3-3 while Brees was out no matter what happened with everything else.

I'm just glad we're not crying, WE NEED DREW BREES! Great job Teddy.

IDK to read some on here you’d swear we were 0-4 and Payton refusing to make a QB change. It’s what I call the video game mentality. Lighting up the scoreboard is more important than a 13-6 victory. I don’t think anyone in their right mind gave us a chance at being 4-0 five weeks ago.

Keep up the good work Teddy, you’re doing just fine.

Call me in my wrong mind then. I said back then that we'd end up 18-1 with our second Lombardi.

Yeah thank you Teddy for winning all these games for us.

The dude apologizes to defense — still gets game ball. My jaw hanging open like the GMC tailgate commercial. GUSHING

We had 3 consecutive years of lighting up the scoreboard and losing games cause the defense gave up 30-40 points and it became shoot outs. Those were the 7-9 campaigns between 2014 to 2016.

I don't miss those games. They were the most frustrating losses.

Have you considered that the team itself may have a tad more insight than you? Or perhaps a butt load more insight than you?

Teddy is not winning these games. The defense and ST are winning the games.

There are always exceptions Guido. You are the eternal optimist. Stay in your wrong mind my friend if it gets us to 18-1. ;)

Teddy hasn’t lost any games? Unbelievable defense won them. The guy is ok. I’ve never compared him to Drew but I would have preferred Taysom.

Whatever just keep doing what you are doing. We have already won more than I thought we would without Brees.
One of these days we are going to have to play from behind. Teddy is going to need to put some points on the board.

I hear this a lot. Please help me understand why.

Teddy brings what can't be measured. Is he inspiring the defense /team to play lights out. I would say yes. They were already good but they love the guy. You can almost feel it. He's got the Tebow, Delhomme thing going IMO. Both inspiring leaders but a little short on skills.

Just like they did when drew was in his funk the second half of the season last year as well but no one made big fuss about that. Why do some y'all give teddy so much sh*t? We know he isn't drew but he's doing just enough to win and more importantly not making bone head turnovers. It could of been way worse but its not this team is play for each other more then they ever have. We could have luke falk, geno smith, gabbert, barkley, and etc, that have no potential.

Teddy is doing exactly what we paid him 7 million a year to do. manage games and don't turn the ball over.

Because so many people were hoping to see Drew’s heir. People would feel a whole lot better if they could see that our future is secure. People are judging him not as a backup but a future starter.
When we got him I thought worse case scenario we would have an excellent backup best case scenario our future QB. I’m fine with the former.
If this would have happened 4 years ago fans would be thrilled with what Teddy has done so far.
