Re: Barry Hirstius: Saints Face Most Difficult Challenge Yet at Chicago
This match up could be much like the Jacksonville game but the Bears defense is better.
Sean Payton/Carmichael are going to have to let Bridgewater loose and take more chances downfield. If he hesitates against the Bears secondary, it will lead to turnovers. However the Bears are nothing special offensively (currently ranked 30th overall) WITH or WITHOUT Trubisky. Chase threw picks against the Raiders and took an L. If Mitch plays, I'm bringing the house ... This is a good test for the Saints. |

I love our chances of completely shutting down their offense. Can we score one TD though?

Remember Oakland was up 17-0 in London before Tarek had that long special teams punt return and subsequent score that sparked the Bears come back. Again if the Saints somehow get up a score or two on the Bears, Chase and/or Mitch could be in trouble. This will come as a shock to many around the league but the strength of the Saints is our DEFENSE and special teams. BTW, Akiem Hicks is out so that is good news for PEAT  and Warford. Can't wait. Edit - if the Saints O line can bring their A game, we'll be in good shape. I'm not sure how good Oakland's offensive line is but rookie 1st rd Bama RB Josh Jacobs had over 100 yards rushing & a 4.4 ypc game vs the Bears. |

Didn't realize Hicks was going to be out this long - good catch and excellent notation. Payton Critics won't have a glaring example of SP's personnel blunders to cite this week - good for us! |

Yeah, Brother, it's set up to be a real rugby scrum... |
Re: Barry Hirstius: Saints Face Most Difficult Challenge Yet at Chicago
I've been on record here beating the horse for adding another vet WR ...
This is quite possibly a defense/secondary where Michael Thomas could be limited ... especially with the possibility of not having Kamara. Question I have is which WR not named Can't Guard Mike steps up??? |
Re: Barry Hirstius: Saints Face Most Difficult Challenge Yet at Chicago
Two very good defensive teams entering week 6.
Field position could be huge. Having Thomas Morestead and Lutz is key ... I'd punt away & out of bounds from Tarik all game. Deonte' Harris must hold on to the ball. Games are won and lost on special teams. |
