Friday Injury Report: Cook and Kamara OUT for Sunday

Cook and Kamara ... officially OUT on Sunday.
I'm glad the decision was made to keep Kamara out vs Chicago. He needs to ice up and get back to 100%.
Lots of football left to play.

It is what it is.

Whew. I pick up Latavious last FRI afternoon just in case. Kamara likely takes off next week as well. That's a month off practically. He should be healed up.

Ozigbo would come in handy right about now, since Washington can't seem to pick up the slack besides being a special teamer.

I said it 10000 times during the Jags game, they ran or threw to Kamara way too much. It was only a matter of time. Not like we don't have other Runningbacks and receivers on the team.

Going to be a defensive game Sunday. 13-10 final score. Defense scores our TD.

Halo, even in preseason I thought he was getting an unusual amount of snaps for such a known commodity. Just chalk this one up as a head scratcher

It's the Jimmy Graham glitch that Payton had years ago -

The 1, 2 punch we had was Ingram and Kamara.
Neither running-back could survive an entire season doing all the heavy lifting work. When Ingram went down, Kamara had to carry and he got hurt doing heavy lifting work crashing the line.

We have Murray and he looks great, but SP is only giving Murray "some" heavy lifting plays - almost using him less than an exclusive 3rd down back.
We can expect Kamara to do most of the receiving, all the power running and downfield running too without getting hurt.
Murray should be much more involved.

I guess we'll see what we're made of without Kamara now.
Maybe "Checkdown Teddy" will have to throw to some different people this week other than Kamara.

Re: Friday Injury Report: Cook and Kamara OUT for Sunday

We had to use him though more with Brees out. I will say, Murray has thrived in the role of being the default #1RB. I don't know if he feeds on it or not but he did it last year and he was running much harder last week getting more work.

This could be one of those parody games where Latavious looks like he injected Compound V and the Bears defense ends up looking worse than they did against the Raiders. Especially without Hicks which was a massive loss to their pass rush.

2 quality RB's on the roster. 1 1/2 quality TE on the roster. Not great work in those two areas. Might as well let Taysom play QB. If no one is open, run Taysom run!

Yeah this is the point I have.

Kamara pretty much has been the workhorse of this offense going back to last year.

We do need to sit him though so he don't get banged up worse against a Bears defense that is going to hit hard.

Let em get healthy.

I would expect a loss with so much talent sidelined...which probably means we will surprise

Shouldn't have played Kimara against the Jags.

Assuming the injury isn’t already so bad he’s going to miss significant play time.
Murray is supposed to be the type of back to wear defenses down. We will see.

This could potentially be one of the worst games of all time.

Just throwing this out there but guess who gets heavier usage when your QB checks down a lot.... Your RB.

Jacksonville was Kamara's lowest carries per game.

our defense will surely have to hold it down. The ram has his work cut out for him but they move mack around.

Don't sleep on this 2019 Saints defense. Chicago isn't world beaters offensively either.

The D has carried us in 2 games already this season. Both on the road.

I can't find the link at the moment however Davenport is up there with 12 QB "hits" thus far. IIRC JJ Watt is leading the league with 15.

Solid special teams and good ole fashion D still wins games ;).

Sean is having a lot of fun game planning this year. He'll come up with a plan. I think Taysom will have a larger role, and I'd love to see Harris get more touches outside of ST. If we can keep Mack under control I think we'll do OK.

With Cook out, I think they'll use him at TE quite a bit. Gonna need some offensive spark this week. And he can block.

I love having a QB that can truck a linebacker.

It will be a fun game. Taysom for one is going to double or triple his input which is a blast watching. He levels a defender every single time into the dirt. It's one one best moments in a Saints game this year and there will be more of it.

Teddy has calmed down a lot. He can make the throws. Needs to work on the right side of the field and on short passes but he can do it. Just needs the reps.

With Kamara out, as if it wasn't already vitally important, it will be vitally important to keep Teddy upright and out of harms way. This game will be won or lost on our offensive line.

Sean is on record basically saying that Hill's usage will be limited until he isn't the Backup QB anymore.

If it's trench warfare I think we have the edge. Only real weakness for us is covering the slot and playing the slot. We could lose it there for sure.

Take the game off against the Cardinals? That is not a game we can afford to lose. I don't see us winning tomorrow.

"THOSE WHO FORGET THE PAST ARE DESTINED TO REPEAT IT" Where have I heard this before?
Anyone else remember the Saints won the Super Bowl with ONE drafted running back on the roster? Who can forget names like Kyle Eckel? 2 rushing attempts for 6 yards and caught 2 passes for a blistering 14 yards!! BUT scored 2 TD in the Super Bowl victory! Lynell Halmitlon 35 attempts for 135 yards. The Rams also went to the Super Bowl with an "off the street" RB.
