Saints stomp Bears, move to 5-0 with Bridgewater
1 Attachment(s)
No Drew Brees? No problem.
That would have sounded crazy to say about the Saints when Brees suffered the thumb injury that knocked him out for much of this season, but the Saints dominated the Bears 36-25 today and improved to 5-0 in games Teddy Bridgewater has started this season. Bridgewater completed 23 of 38 passes for 281 yards, with two touchdowns and no turnovers. He played very well against a good Bears defense, and showed that the Saints are just fine with Brees sidelined. That’s not to say the Saints don’t want Brees back — he’s expected back soon, and he’ll start over Bridgewater — but the Saints are showing that they’re a complete team, and not just a team that wins because of their Hall of Fame quarterback. https://nbcprofootballtalk.files.wor...1614230774.jpg The Bears, on the other hand, have a very serious problem with their young quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky. He looked promising last year in his first season playing in coach Matt Nagy’s offense, but he was a major disappointment today. The Bears’ offense couldn’t get anything going, with Chicago’s only touchdown before garbage time coming on a Cordarrelle Patterson kickoff return. more on PFT |
Re: Saints stomp Bears, move to 5-0 with Bridgewater
Chicago's a tough city to play QB, ask Jay Cutler and Jimmy Mac. Da Bears spend their money on Defense.
The Chicago O-Line looked like swiss cheese today but as they say that's their problem.. |

Couldn't happen to a SICKER FAN BASE. I'm still pissed about the "Finishing the job Katrina Started " posted all over during the NFC Championship game. Hope it HURTS Bears Fans!!!!

Alternate Headline:
CGM takes clear lead in NFL 2019 MVP race as he only needs Sean Payton to consistently deliver victories. CGM: Yardage - Leads league 1st downs - 2nd in league only 1 reception behind #1 Doesn't matter what anyone really thinks, its firstdowns and yardage that keep an offense moving and CGM is our bell cow. Not Brees, Not Kamara, Not TB.. |

Mentally tough squad.
BTW, collectively who has a better defensive front 7? New England maybe? Chicago had 18 yards rushing against the Saints. That is impressive to me. |

We didnt just stop their run game, we made it go away. They averaged 24 carries per game until yesterday and 30 pass attempts per game. :bng: |
Re: Saints stomp Bears, move to 5-0 with Bridgewater
The Bears got scared of running the ball after the fumbles lost. This new rookie RB of theirs seems pretty ordinary. I bet they really regret letting Jordan Howard go to the Eagles.

I can’t understand this love for teddy! The guy is at best a game manager. The defense and ST is playing lights out. SP has done an amazing job changing the game to fit TB. I just can’t give credit to TB when it’s SP, ST and the defense winning the games. Every one is stepping up. This is a complete team who is no longer relying on a HOF qb

As far as SP changing the game plan to fit TB, isn't that just common sense? I don't see why this should be a negative I never understood those coaches that force their system in regardless on whether it fits their talent or not (cough, cough Spangnolo) |

Neither a blocked punt nor a safety are common in this league, much less together, and when you manage to turn a teams first possession of a game into a safety after three plays you have impacted their game plan as well as put them on their heals. Then after our offense struggles to get to 3-20 at our 43 Morestead puts them at their 12... you just ate 1/2 the first Quarter off the clock with the only highlights being your defense and Special Teams. See... There are things that others do not see which you see in Teddy, and there are things others see in our Special Teams that you do not see. No need to get all tired and tuned up about it. :bng: |

I think the whole team is doing a great job and yes, that means TB as well! The guy works his tail off to get the job done and no one can complain about that! Great result and if and when Drew decides to call it a day then I would be fine having TB as our starting QB! WHO DAT! GEAUX SAINTS

Do you also remember me commenting in hopes their defense would wear down in the second half? It was 12-10 at the half and our Offense wasnt lighting anything up... 12 points in the first half, 5 of the 12 was Special Teams... (Safety and a field goal). I am not trying to beat up on Teddy but perspective is needed. How do you feel about TB first half completion % vs Trubisky's? TB 14-24 Trubisky 13-23 Nothing was interesting about our offense in the first half, even Murry who had a good game was 9-30.:bng: |
