Re: How does SP handle Brees return?
People keep throwing out the fact that Bridgewater was a pro bowl QB. He was a replacement QB, as was Jameis Winston that year.
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (Vikings) Derek Carr (Raiders) Eli Manning (Giants) Tyrod Taylor (Bills) Russell Wilson (Seahawks) Jameis Winston (Buccaneers) "The 2016 Pro Bowl official roster has included 133 players, making it the largest roster in league history. With so many players dropping out of the game — because of injuries, the Super Bowl or plain ol' not wanting to — the NFL has had to dive deep into its roster of alternates. Nearly every quarterback was replaced, including Carson Palmer, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady, along with Super Bowl-bound Cam Newton. The Panthers had 10 total players selected to the Pro Bowl and the Broncos had four, but the teams can't send any ahead of Super Bowl 50." |

Just hand Teddy the clip board!

Re: How does SP handle Brees return?
I vote for another option.... start Hill.... lol
But really, even if Drew is healthy you let him sit this week and put him in after the bye. A loss to AZ isn’t a big deal rushing Drew back would be. However, he should definitely make AZ gameplan for both. |
Re: How does SP handle Brees return?
I'm going with whomever said it was a smoke-screen; Brees didn't practice all at last week. I don't think someone who was DNP Friday will be ready in just a week

Re: How does SP handle Brees return?
If we were 4-3 or worse at this point, I'd want Brees back asap. At 6-1, it doesn't feel as urgent.
Bottom line: i'm sure Paytin won't bring him back unless he's 100% healthy. XLIV CHAMPS |
Re: How does SP handle Brees return?
A pragmatic approach says that if Drew says he is ready and wants to play you start him...
... Because he has been the leader of the offense for over 13 years and its a courtesy. ... because he hasn't played in 5 weeks and needs to knock off rust before jumping into 4 division games followed by an undefeated 49ers. ... because he hasn't played with some of these receivers more than a game and needs to sort out timing. ... because if his thumb fails, Teddy will appreciate the two weeks rest before he goes back in and finishes the season. Beyond that, if the team physician and his specialist release him to play and he thinks he is ready to play, who am I to second guess those professionals. |
Re: How does SP handle Brees return?
Sean is going to do what Sean wants and who the hell are we to question or second guess the SB AMBUSH visionary and the one to Start Teddy over Hill when everyone was screaming for Hill. So it doesn't matter what any of us think, lol.
