Hopefully, LeCharles Bentley will be next. One thing you can't say is that Tom Benson is cheap. You can say he spends his money poorly, but at least he's spending it.

GREAT NEWS! Personally, I think Mike is a key player for us, and I'm glad to see the Saints stay true to their words. It's good PR.

You are right. It is good PR. But I think it also sends a message to both the current players and possible future players that the if you report, the Saints will show you the money. It also has to be one of the best spent second round picks in Saints history.

Good job front office. One side solidified for the next 5 years... less worries. Things are looking up and I agree it will possibly attract more high profiled athletes down the road.

I'm curious as to how the new deal affects his cap #. I would think that it may be less this year due to addition of three years to his contract. Yet another advantage to the deal. And it may be enough to get Bentley his new deal.

Signing McKenzie was another huge step forward (who'da thunk it with Howard still under the franchise tag, Whodi).
