Securing Home Field Advantage in the 2020 playoffs
 

I am just wondering how all of you Who Dats feel about the importance of gaining HFA for the upcoming playoffs?

I feel like it is of utmost importance for the Saints because we do not want to have to play on the road in SF(at least the weather should be somewhat warm), GB(cold), Minny(less of a concern since it is a dome but a road dome) or Seattle(wet, damp sometimes miserable weather and the crowd noise). Outdoors, cold weather have been factors that have worked against the Saints in the playoffs on the road in the past during the Brees/Payton era but this is a different team.

Comfort should have been taken that the Saints D travels well but after the these last two home games in the Dome my confidence in the Saints secondary has been shaken once again.

Doesn't mean I don't think we can win on the road but getting the best record would really assuage some of my concerns if we had the home field throughout.

So I realize that of course just about every Who Dat would want the Saints to have home field but what I am looking for are the usual brilliant insights that so many of the members of black and gold dot com offer up when questions like these are posed to the board. I know that responses from those far more knowledgeable than I often educate me and also help allay my fears where concerns like these sometimes bubble up to the surface.

What say you Who Dats?

Well, homefield is always nice, and I'd rather not have to go to Green Bay, but I'm not scared to go to SF, Dallas/Philly, Minny, or Seattle. If we're healthy enough I'm not scared of anyone not in zebra stripes.

Obviously it’s very important, our crowd alone gives QBs hell, teams hate having to play here. That being said I think we built to win on the road in the playoffs. If Payton stays committed to the run and our defense and special teams continue to do what they have done most of the season we can win anywhere.

I'd rather HFA if possible. We are missing the left half of the O-line. Our star corner has battled that hamstring problem for a long time and he has even had surgery on it so we don't know how long he'll be out. And we only have one receiver. I'm pessimistically optimistic until the team comes back relatively healthy.

The 7 people on the field and one in NYC don’t seem to care where they are unfavorable to us.

If we get the number two seed we may not have to go on the road. I'm thinking if SF or GB is the 1 seed, and SF or Seattle is the wild card, they could possibly knock the Packers or 49ers off. Seahawks could beat SF in SF (they already did a few weeks ago), SF could win in GB. Aaron Rodgers is also 3-2 at home in the playoffs. Russell Wilson will not lose to any division rival in the playoffs either.

No way GB gets the #1 seed.

No, We dont want to go to GB, Minn, or Dallas.

We will get raped by officiating on the road at any of these places. San Fran I dunno about, but it is another California team.

We can get homefield. Our only weakness is drops right in the numbers. Clean that up and it's a given IMO. The onsides is easy to fix and stupid. How many games have been won with an onsides. I can't think of one. They got two and still lost.

I don't care about homefield advantage anymore. If we're the higher seed then just let us select the officiating team LOL.
