Sean Payton to butcher: “Worry about your meat”

“I certainly understand fans asking questions,” Payton said. “I got the guy at freaking Whole Foods asking me about the two-point play. The guy from the meat section. I looked at him and said, ‘Hey, your steaks don’t look too good right now. Worry about your meat. Driving me crazy.'”

Is SP worried about his own meat?

I certainly get Sean's point. But almost everyone was scratching their heads at the 2 point attempt.

Also, it's the price of fame. Comes with the territory and the $$$. I saw James Carville in Whole Foods one time, and I good naturedly gave him sh*t about his book being so wrong about his election predictions. I said his wife was right, LOL. I was nice about it though.

I wasn't surprised about the 2 point attempt. I have heard complaints around here for years about Payton not going for the throat enough. He was looking to make them pay for their penalty on Cook and he liked their chances from the one. We got beat because SF was willing to take chances on multiple occasions. I had no problem with going for the two or the fake punt. Either one could have put the dagger in their heart.

The on sides kick in the Super bowl made him famous. He's a gambler. It's in his DNA. You don't win every time that you gamble. Just win more than you lose and you can go home a winner if you pick the right time to bet the house..

Now that is one topic I don't even want to think about.

Thing is, he'd be praised if those two calls had worked out. Or if the one of them had. Sometimes you lose when you roll the dice.

Look of the guy always sat back and was conservative he wouldn't be any fun. Need a name? Try Mike McCarthy. He didn't keep his job because he always played not to lose. And he had some good teams in GB. Didn't matter in the end.

I think the LBs missing hurt more than anything. And our horrible secondary play of course.

The offense put up a **** ton of points. Including a masterful Brees led drive that ended with under a minute left. That should've been enough to win.

There is definitely nothing that can be blamed on an offense or on offensive play calls when you score 46 points. Missing Kiko AND Klein may have been huge. The defense works as a unit. I wouldn't doubt that some of the secondary troubles were based upon the missing LB's. LB's and safeties work in tandem. On some plays they are interchangeable with virtually the same responsibilities depending upon the offensive play call.

The freakin meat guy PAYS your rediculous salary. So, yeah, answer the question mr. know it all, and don’t complain about fans who know enough about football to be interested, otherwise we might lose interest in vain sports figures.

If we kick the field goal we still lose by one Lls I'm confused as to the significance of the play, playing a factor in the Saints losing. We get the 2pt conversation the game continues or the Niners have to score a TD to win.

Re: Sean Payton to butcher: “Worry about your meat”

Interesting theoretical, that Brees going over the top with his signature "hold the ball out" dive, is apparently "worth" 6 points, or worth risking for a first down at certain times, but apparently not "worth it" for 2 points against SF's defense. The risk of injury is there, I wonder if that is part of Payton's thinking on that. I mean Brees diving over the top of the goal line is one of his signature bread-and-butter plays that has made Brees' career. But not there in that instance. Kinda interesting to think about.

Re: Sean Payton to butcher: “Worry about your meat”

The 2 point conversion is a strategy to make the 49ers rethink there game plan later we missed it move on I don’t blame patton for it. I loved it . It had nothing to do with the loss. If it’s them that did it we would have to change our game plan somewhere down the road in that game. Did we score to soon , hell no it’s hard enough to get a TD in this league .

I wondered the same thing. A QB sneak would have been successful.
