NFL won't flex Saints-Titans into 'Sunday Night Football' for Week 16

However, the Saints and Titans will not be getting that prime-time kickoff, per a report from NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano. The league and its broadcast partners have agreed to keep the previously scheduled game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears in that slot, which isn’t as compelling a matchup (the Bears are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, while the Titans need to beat the Saints to keep their hopes alive) but probably easy to develop a narrative around.

Plenty of games to flex
Why us?

Chicago is a huge market
KC has Mahomes - the flashy new star of the league - who has critical playoff seeding ramifications

Had it been flexed, I think it would have helped us.

Disagree. 55 degrees versus 40 degrees, and I don't expect a whole lot from Nashville fans, but they'd definitely be louder at 7 than noon.

Yep.....you don't want a game flexed into the evening if it means a big change in temperature.

I have a theory that the only reason they wanted to do this was because Tom Brady would get the record first. Hopefully Brees breaks it this week.

True Dat! We are dome team that plays best in controlled conditions and I'm worried about our receivers trying to catch a cold ball. They have a tough enough time catching a football as it is.

Besides it's harder on the liver if you have to drink all day just to get to kick off where we fans pick up the drinking tempo. :chug:

I figured they wouldn't do it just because we are the Saints.

Hmm...I agree that historically under Brees/Payton we're a better Dome team, but with the rise of the D and more physical way we're built now, I think we are suited for an outdoor, colder weather style of game too now..especially if Kamara gets back on track this year.

As much as I want that #1 seed, part of me kind of wants to see them go on the road. We looked great in Seattle and Chicago on colder, grey days this year. Cold conditions would help minimize the other team's effectiveness in just attacking Eli Apple too. I bet San Fran doesn't put up 48 points on us outside..

I believe this Saints team is built to win anywhere but it's hard to deny the fact that Sean/Brees are almost unbeatable (5-1) in the playoffs when it's in the Superdome as opposed to playing on the road. The avg temps for GB in January is 26 (high) and 9 for the low. F** that.

I'm hoping for a Green Bay hiccup on Monday Night & the Niners lose again vs the Seahags in the final game of the season.

The playoffs in that DOME .. no team wants to go there and it's damn near impossible to hear. Niner O lineman Staley stated most of the game they had to go silent count (resulted in 4 false starts) & react on each other. Give me a fast track at home vs going out in those elements.

If I had my way, the next AWAY game during the playoffs for the Saints will be MIAMI :p.

There's no place like DOME.
