Patriots style football

What Sean Payton is doing this season, far different than previous years.

instead of peaking early in the season, most our games this year has been a struggle especially on offense, last 2 games Brees has tossed 8 TDs is it? Bridgewater needed 5 games to do that.

This is the same things Brady and Belichick do often, look bad for stretches and then come out firing end of the season and in playoffs.

This could be our year to get over the hump. But I believe it will involve avoiding a team like Seattle some Jan.

Only difference is MT. Pats seldom relied on one WR back in the day. For us, everything flows through MT.

Rob Gronkowski? Edelman has struggled to be a consistent producer without him?

The Big Difference is that Belichick knew how to game-plan and shut folks down with his defense, slow the game down, bang the rock, and let the performance anxiety of the playoffs work to his favor...

Payton, not so much...

Rob only had two seasons where he got over 80 catches. A couple seasons where they leaned on him hard which is what we are doing with MT but even more so. He's about to have the reception record. If we start spreading the ball out more here on out then yeah, it would look like a vintage Pats team.

Payton thinks he understands defenses because he can pick them apart but he doesn't have a clue when it comes down to making a game plan for the defense. When he stopped tinkering with the defenses we were able to field better defenses.

Still, I don't put this on Payton. I put this on DA who I'm less happy with almost every game this year. There have been too many close games in garbage time. He just can't control the lead and takes his foot off the throttle. That's just too hard on my liver.

Some of the things I been unhappy with as far as DA goes is like in the ATL game, why was he matching Apple on Ridley who was their best WR with Julio out? This is going back to the old days where #1 Corner stay on one side of the field and line up with whoever and same for the #2.

I'm not Team DA by any means, but in his defense I'll say, no, his strength is not in game planning but in tweaking, making adjustments to shut down teams second half...

That said, we haven't seen that strength on display in the three losses this year nor the playoff losses...

As long as the D gets a couple stops a game our O should do the rest. Murry needs more carries. Kamaras not running all that well if he can get going Brees can do his thing and all should be well.

The D is hurting. So is the O line - and look what they are doing. BUT...too injuries in the D.
