2nd SB Win If
If we win, Brees plays another year, wins another with a retired Brady, where does Brees stand at that point?
He's going to have all the records except the SB victories of Brady. Is Brady still the greatest at that point. IMO, No. All Brady would have was additional SB's with nothing else to back it up. I don't think it's even up for debate at that point. Body of work would be Brees hands down. |
Re: 2nd SB Win If
You and I both know that if Brees retires with 3 SB wins every comparison between the two will always end with Brady having more SB wins, plus a generous mixture of Brees playing in a dome.

Re: 2nd SB Win If
True but, someone would always throw all the records grenades at the base of Brady's SB pedestals. The dome thing is silly because we had Katrina and Bountygate. All they got was a slap on the wrist for years of perpetual illegal spying.

Bress is the GOAT plain and simple.

Re: 2nd SB Win If
Drew is around as long as he feels sharp enough to run the team and if we keep a good defense, O-line, and a good running game.

Re: 2nd SB Win If
Its way to early to discuss this... give it 10 years after they have retired. History writes the story.

Re: 2nd SB Win If
Brees has not had the defensive teams like Brady.

Re: 2nd SB Win If
Thing about the Patriots is they been in a lack luster conference and division for years, since the division realignment, only teams to ever really show up in the AFC in that span has been Steelers, Ravens, or Colts when they had Manning. When they had to go through the AFC it was often with ease, then their SB opponent was often a team that was out matched because they had no business there or the NFC at the time was just as lack luster like the early 2000s.
Put the Patriots in the NFC after 2005 and see what happens. They may get at most 2 SB appearances and that was down years in the NFC like 2007 and 2014/15. |
Re: 2nd SB Win If
It’s funny how quickly the media forgets Brady winning with deflated balls.

Re: 2nd SB Win If
I don't see Brees slowing down. I do see Brady slowing down. Brady's offensive line is not as good as it has been in the past and Brady quits on some plays.
Brees' arm strength is better after the surgery and rehabilitation. In fact, I would say his accuracy and arm strength are at 2011 levels. Maybe his training regiment should be a template for other QB's. With this new era of the NFL, quarterbacks, and rules to protect the quarterbacks, I can foresee QB's playing into their 40's... possibly 45, comfortably, if they are pocket QB's and have decent offensive lines. Finally, this would not be the first time NFL quarterbacks have played into their 40's. Ya'll need to look up George Blanda and his years in the NFL and with the Oakland Raiders. He led the Raiders to the AFL championship game... they would cut him, and even in 1970 the Raiders would pick him up to play relief and win like 4 of the last 5 games, and push the Raiders into a championship. BTW, Blanda was also the kicker as well as the QB. Blanda finally retied after the '75 season when he still started games at the age of 48 years old. |
Re: 2nd SB Win If
The Tuck Rule made Brady. Changed the course of NFL history.
It’s on the same level as the MISSED PI CALL. |
