Scoring 35 points in the first half felt good, it's been a long while since we dominated like that.

The Lions blew a 1 in 100 chance of winning that game.

I knew we couldn't count on the Lions.

Lions are the Northern version of the old Saints.

Quick Hits:
  • AJ Klein does not get enough love for his game because he's playing alongside DeMario Davis who's had a season for the ages...

  • Getting Warford and Peat back now was important to re-establishing the timing of the running game for the tournament...

  • We'd better be game-planning not only for our opponents but to overcome clearly slanted officiating as well...

  • Zach Line was clearly missed today...

  • Jared Cook made an outstanding grab, but we're gonna need more consistent play from him to have success in the tournament...

  • Tre'Quan Smith quietly went about a solid game today which he should have with Mike Thomas and Alvin Kamara getting so much attention...

  • This secondary plays with more energy and attentiveness when CJ Gardner is in at the Starting Strong Safety...

  • P.J. Williams may be able to jumpstart his NFL career as a Free Safety; he seems to play a better center fielder than a CB...

  • Brees doesn't seem to have any confidence in Ginn which is warranted; there was a play where Ginn laid back waiting for the ball that was nearly intercept it because Ginn has been reluctant to contest targets...

  • Latavius Murray is gonna need 15-20 touches/game for the Saints to have post-season success in the Tournament...

  • We are very deep at the defensive tackles even with the loss of Sheldon Rankins...

  • Janoris Jenkins is close to being ready to replace Apple until Apple can recover his strength to 100%...

  • Special Teams are important, but we need to find replacements for Robertson and Hardee...

  • Payton needs to design some drop-backs for Taysom Hill to give his plays less predictability...

Saints set record for fewest turnovers in a single season.

It's so bad we had a pitch count in the bar I was watching our game in, for when (not if) he would throw a INT. I guessed five drop backs, he didn't but any of the first four of of the five I watched could have easily been INT's.

The last couple of years our offense peaked too early and we struggled going into the playoffs. It looks like we're peaking at the right time this year. Good times.

And is the only member of the 30-30 club....

30+ TDS
And
30 Ints

OH... and he now holds the record for throwing the most pick 6s in a season.

PLEASE TB - keep Winston!

I thought the new kid did pretty well for his first game. Loved the play on Kamara's TD when he wiped out 2 LBs at once.

He looked good in his own understated way. Saw Brees in an interview a couple of weeks back saying he really trusts Smith and I think it shows.

Which would give us som interesting alternatives going forward. He clearly isn't afraid to hit people.

Agreed, he has the arm for it too.

Real conundrum on the safety front.

PJ can tackle but doesnt have good ball skills
Marcus has really good hands but refuses to form tackle. I was hoping he'd learnt from 2017 minny, let's hope he can beat some of his demons in the coming week.

Marcus needs to spend a week with a rugby team going through tackling drills and then playing tackle rugby to get a feel for positional tackling. In other words each tackle is different because of angles and body positioning and he'd have to follow the rugby laws about wrapping up the tackled player. These stupid diving tackles with a shoulder is bull ****. You can't tackle what you can't see!

Coach Payton, may I have a word with you regarding new staff additions...

Marcus is a wuss when it comes to tackling. You'd think he would've learned from the MN game 2 years ago. Nope.

Completely agree, I'm not a huge fan of Rugby to be honest, but their tackling technique is impeccable and what better way to learn than to go through tackling drills that they do.

My biggest take from yesterday, CGM took too many big hits. He’s not gonna last very long with the shots he’s been taking. He was getting hit hard and slammed to the turf on incomplete passes. Not good.
