Saints 2020 Salary Cap

Before any roster moves, Loomis has an estimated $4,860 left to spend.

So we're purchasing a 10 year old Honda Accord with 160,000 miles.

Re: Saints 2020 Salary Cap

I’m a little surprised more hasn’t been made of this. In the other thread we talked about Brees costing us $21.3 mil in dead cap next season regardless of whether he’s re-signed or not. If we sign him to another two year deal as we’ve been doing he’ll be costing us close to $50 mil in cap space.

Teddy Bridgewater will account for $4 mil in dead cap.

We can cut Janoris Jenkins and save $11.25 mil with no dead money. Or, we can extend him and knock down that $11.25 mil cap hit by quite a bit. Problem is, he turns 32 next season. How much do you want to invest in a 32 year old CB?

Same issue with Larry Warford. He has a $12.875 cap hit next season (last year of his deal.) Do we extend him at 29 years old? Cutting him frees up $8.5 mil but then we’re left having to replace both our LG and RG.

Re: Saints 2020 Salary Cap

The Brees deal is only an issue if he doesn’t come back but the other issues plus the needs elsewhere still only leave us with a little bit of money to address these issues. Our window has just about closed unless we hit a homerun in the draft.

I don’t know man, not having a single QB under contract and only about $5 mil in cap space is going to be tricky. No doubt we can re-sign Brees and Taysom, but we’re going to have to cut some significant contributors.

TA, Patrick Robinson, Jenkins and Easton need to fix their crazy contracts or kick rocks. TA is set to make 16 mil and Jenkins is set to make 12

Loomis will restructure, resign and cut us into having millions to spend in 2020. He's done it for nearly 20 years. He is a cap guru.

TA will probably have his deal reworked again. Jenkins was the best player in the secondary by far yesterday. Everyone else was absolutely abysmal except for CGJ and he was ok. Maybe Easton is Peat’s replacement and the Saints knew they weren’t bringing him back next year.

I don’t know if it was scheme for Lattimore or if he was just having a bad game but he just looked so frustrated yesterday.

and Peats a FA. Can't see us letting both guards go. Warford probably stays, Peat walks.

Re: Saints 2020 Salary Cap

Kiko is making 6.3 m with no dead money; he definitely will be cut.

Rankins is making 7.6 m; no dead money if cut.

Robinson is getting cut only 2.5 m in dead space.

Cutting these 3 gives us 22m in space.

Jenkins deal will probably be restructured. Doubt we sign Apple and we will need a #2.

Robinson is getting cut.

That alone gives us 22m in space.

Rankins isn’t getting cut...traded...maybe. You still have no QB, need a #2 WR. If you get rid of Kiko you need two LBs at a minimum.

Cap will definitely be an issue this offseason.

You can replace Kiko with a rookie. He is not worth 6m.

Kiko has a torn ACL now too so he definitely won’t be in the equation. I’d definitely entertain trade offers for Rankins.

Yeah I just saw your post. He is definitely gone now. Bad time to tear an acl for him with no guaranteed money on his deal.

Latt gave up on one play that’s why he was disgraced after that catch and that 43 Marcus Williams was no help at all on top of bomb to thielin. He were looking at theilen instead of tracking ball he just sucked bad.

Whoever replaces him will probably be a starter. If he was able to come in a start right away that says something about our current talent at the position. I’m not saying he is worth 6M especially after another ACL injury and if we don’t bring AJ back then we would have only one LB that we can depend on to play and that’s Davis. Alex is always injured, Craig isn’t the answer and we only have 5 picks, with no 2nd rd.

We can’t replace everyone with draft picks

Re: Saints 2020 Salary Cap

Not looking good at all... big changes needed and the cap situation is just more of a reason why we can’t bring back Drew... going to need a somewhat cheap QB to clear the balance sheet for next year. I think Taysom can be re-signed for a reasonable amount, then draft a rookie QB. We don’t need extra offensive weapons, we need a QB that can throw on a rope more than 10 yards.

Saints need a legit #2 WR bad. Struck out on Cameron Meredith, Dez Bryant, Rishard Matthews and acquiring one at the deadline this year.

The bad news is the solid FA WR's will command alot, Aj Green, Emmanuel Sanders. Amari Cooper even Robby Anderson will get overpaid.

I would take a flyer on Perrriman as a speedster Ginn replacement.

Would love to replace, upgrade Warford with Brandon Scherff...

Saints were very high on Brandon coming out of college ... so there is that.

When healthy, he's a big nasty.

Whatever we need to fix this online I’m in ; watched again how we can’t hold blocks when it counts. Get owned by better than average d-line . Watch vikes o-line stay with our pass rush all the way till cousins completes pass to theilen that typically puts game away. Our o-line has this bottle rocket take off at the snap then fizzle out after 2 seconds . And Brees is running for his life . Watch the tape please you will see . That’s coaching letting that pass is BS these cats are making millions with no heart.not saying it’s everyone .

This would be my immediate plan at the top.

Restructure:
Armstead
Warford
Jenkins
Cut
Kiko
P Rob
Easton

We need to draft guards this year and next year with high draft picks. Our first round draft pick on an O-lineman is very sexy to me.
