Unless something cool happens, it's gonna get harder and hard to sell tickets. I could hear the sounds of fans in the Dome asking themselves "and we paid 10k just for tickets to watch this??"

I would like to see the NFL go to the College Football OT format except for you have to go for 2pts...no extra point kicks.

Re: Letter from Saints fan: Why I'm not watching NFL games anymore

Author is right about OT and the safety issues. I said after last season that it was personal fouls/player safety that needs to made reviewable, not pass interference, and I still stand by that. College is on the right track with automatically reviewed targeting.

Sports are supposed to be crazy and full of anguish. That's kind of the point.

True, but more and more the NFL is full of more than anguish, it's full of bull:censored: like this:

Dude, let it go. We had multiple chances to win this game. Offense blew them all.

I feel the same way. Plus after a lost 3x in a row with so much dramatic make me feel like I am in Deja vu of losing a love one. Can’t sleep or eat for 2 days, normal routines feel like a burden, avoid anything that even resembles NFL (sportscenter, inside the nfl, local sports, etc...) not to mention I become antisocial. I want to give up on watching NFL but I am so addicted. Invested a lot of time and money just to feel robbed at the end. I can only imagine how the 53 players and coaching staff must feel. If anyone felt like or feeling the way I feel I will love to know how you coping with it.

Im right with you. It takes 3 or 4 days when my Widcats get put out of the NCAA tournament but when the Saints lose in the playoffs it takes a week minimum to even think about watching any other teams.

Come on dizzle. This is a thread about why we don't watch football anymore. Let him air his grievances. The officiating is ruining the game and running off spectators.

I, for one don't watch football anymore besides my beloved Saints. I quit watching two years ago and would only briefly study an opponent before I had to turn the channel because football games just sucks these days. This year I don't even look at the opposition anymore. I'm done watching this scripted version of the fixed WWE. Remember, people swore that the WWF/WWE was real too!

We had many chances to beat Minny we get that, but still don’t nullify the fact teams like the Saints can’t get fair shakes in games anymore, mainly been a problem since the Saints won the SB in 2009 when we wasn’t “suppose” to. NFL been put on notice with them since.

Officials can dictate games without ever throwing the flag, why you think the officials high tailed it off the field after the Rudolph caught the td? Didn’t even bother reviewing. Had we beaten Minny we certainly would of gotten screwed in Lambeau anyway, they want a packers/chiefs matchup for the Sb for 100 years of the nfl. Packers 100 yr old team in the first Sb against the chiefs who was also in first Sb.

I’m about sick of the nfl myself after this season, not just Saints getting beat, look at the crap they went through this year along with the fact a lot of these other teams getting put in seedlings they don’t belong in to make their path easier. Vegas has called it in good this year.

Re: Letter from Saints fan: Why I'm not watching NFL games anymore

Stuff like this is why the rest of the NFL fan bases hate us. I would know, cause I go on other team's boards a lot, and even the AFC teams absolutely hate us now.

We really have embraced victimhood as our identity. We are known as the biggest whiners and moaners of NFL fan bases now. We're basically the same team and fan base the 49ers were under Harbaugh. All they ever did was whine and moan about officiating when they lost in the playoffs. Only now 49ers fans are beginning to accept and realize that Harbaugh was an annoying whiner and was getting out-coached in all of those playoff losses regardless if bad calls went against them. We can't even admit this about Payton getting clowned in playoff losses or the fact that Brees has put together a playoff record that rivals Peyton Manning in terms of disappointment. We can't admit this cause they're both GOATs in our eyes.

Nothing is ever Payton, Allen, Brees or this team's fault. Oh no, it's always refs and Goodell. This fan base will over-analyze every single call or non-call whatever it is and come up with a half baked conspiracy theory about it. I posted on here for months about how undisciplined our defense was and few cared. Eli Apple led the league most of the year in drawing pass interference calls. Instead of holding him accountable, everyone just complains about the refs.

No one feels sorry for us and no one should. This is the NFL. Man the hell up and take accountability for blowing games and playing like **** in the post season. That seems like a foreign concept to the majority of this fan base and the team.

As I said in another thread - Minnesota came into our house and shoved us around like a school yard bully and we're basically crying to the teacher that they don't care and won't punish them. We allowed them to come into our house and clown us. Not the refs. The refs didn't put these rosters together and coach bad games.

That was a tick-tacky non-call and I'm glad it wasn't called. DON'T GIVE UP A 40 YARD BOMB PASS PLAY!!! Better yet, don't fumble the ball on what could be a game winning drive, or you know what? Actually play a good game against them. The 49ers showed yesterday, you could attack Minny up the middle by focusing on the run and also key mismatches in their secondary. The Vikings were beatable and we didn't take advantage of anything on the field. For 3 quarters they were bullying us on our home turf. That's 2 playoff games Payton has been clowned by Mike Zimmer, who goes on to get blown out to Philly in 2017 and SF yesterday.

You guys should deep dive into the 70's and 80's Raiders if you want to see a team who truly did have a target on their back whom the NFL hated. Al Davis back in the day was hated for how he handled business and his teams were dealt some bad calls in playoff losses. But guess what? The Raiders had the HIGHEST win percentage in the NFL during the 70's and 80's. They won more games than Landry's Cowboys, Noll's Steelers and Shula's Dolphins. They also won 3 SBs. THEY GOT IT DONE. They didn't sit around whining and moaning for years after the Immaculate Reception didn't get called back and they were robbed in Pittsburgh on what was an illegal play. Instead, they punished that Steelers team in the 1976 playoffs by beating the living crap out of them. Huge difference compared to us. We let Minnesota pull a miracle hail mary on us, then a few years later come into our house and smack us around.

People despised the old Raiders because they were successful and would humiliate your favorite team. We're hated cause we get our asses beat in the playoffs handily, and instead of accepting reality, we focus on some non-call and penalties and blame it all on that.

We've had calls go our way many times over the years. You guys just refuse to ever admit it, cause the persecution complex around this fan base is to the absolute extremes.

First off, remember the 2011 playoff game vs the 49ers? We had ZERO penalties in that game. It's completely unheard of for a road team to have no penalties whatsoever. All through that game, we could've been flagged for PI or late hits on Alex Smith and we got away with it. If anything, we got ref help that day and still couldn't win the game. This fan base has always over-analyzed a hit on Pierre Thomas wanting flags for it, but don't want to admit we had zero penalties and still blew that game.

Remember that Steelers game from 2018? The final drive we scored on, we couldn't convert a 4th down play without a tick-tacky call on Joe Haden. Hell, the first TD of that game, we got a tick-tacky PI call that put us down in the red zone.

Even in the 2018 playoffs, no one wanted to admit we had zero penalties vs the Rams until the 4th quarter. On the Rams final drive that tied the game, refs missed a blatant facemask call on Goff that would've gave them first and goal at the goal line.

This past year against Seattle, we pretty much got every call that went our way. In Seattle, where teams usually have to deal with home cooking.

Every team gets calls that go their way and go against them, yes, including us. We are probably a second seed last year if we don't get some big calls that helped us get past the Steelers.

The refs and Roger Goodell and whatever other boogie man gets blamed on our failures, is not the reason we can't get it done in the playoffs. Refs and Goodell aren't putting together these rosters. Refs and Goodell aren't the ones coaching bad games and screwing around. Refs and Goodell aren't responsible for hiring DCs like Ryan and Allen. Refs and Goodell aren't the ones forcing our HoF QB to turn the ball over in crucial moments late in the game.

There is no conspiracy against the Saints or any of this other bull****. We just aren't good enough. We have a LEGACY at this point of blowing it in the playoffs. That's not on the refs and Goodell. We are pretty much the same team the 80s Bears were. They had the GOAT at running back and a legendary historical defense and only made it to one SB. Ditka would get out-coached and clowned against Joe Gibbs Washington teams and occasionally the 49ers. Payton has been thoroughly out-coached in all of our playoff losses. We're just not losing to SB contenders like those Bears teams would.

Swammi, I disagree with you a number of times about things, but when you say this, I can see that we are Brothers.

I mentioned in another thread the time I punched my own windshield, after a loss to the Niners. I had family who didnt want to talk to me, after the Saints lost. It would ruin my whole trip, when I went to home games. I remember just intense depression on Mondays. And we sucked for years and years.

The thing that helped me was finding out other guys are just as disappointed. Hearing everyone else's thoughts really helped. Im ok, about our loss now; but I'm disappointed for everyone else, and I'm disappointed that our huge party didnt happen.

Try this. Have a big crawfish party and invite every Saints fan you know, and have them set up their tents and flags and wear Saints stuff, and bring all the memorabilia you can find. This fixes me every year.

I like vpheugan, but I think he was hasty in blasting this post. Ching, this some good venting, not that you need my endorsement, but yeah, even though I disagree in principle w/ some of it. Mainly, I'm still on the Brees/Payton Train, but this is great. The Raiders reference was Nails-- although Al Davis was bitter about the Immaculate Reception-- there was revenge.
- I thought i was a Lone Wolf, regarding the No-Call. Wow. spot on. I was particularly embarrassed by the lawsuit, or talk of-- and i especially did not want MORE replay--- notice how we actually fell victim (there's that word again) to our own new rule.
- I would like to point out that Peyton Manning has Two Rings. One ring is a big deal. Ask Dan Fouts. Hell, ask Archie. Anyway, enjoyed that post.
Guys, lets just go out next year, hell or high water, (like the old days, when we actually had a near zero chance) - and dress and act ridiculous, and party, and raise hell, and have fun, and not ask for any rules changes, or refunds, etc... Just Rock the Dome like always. Old Man Brees and Whatever-you-think-is-wrong-with-Payton. I think we have as good a chance as anyone. Actually better. Smile, everyone !:saintsfan:

Hasty, perhaps.

Look through some other threads.

The post I "blasted" is on a few different ones. That's what the "Bump the needle" comment was about.

However i did take exception to the blanket statements:

"We really have embraced victimhood as our identity. "

We're hated cause we get our asses beat in the playoffs handily, and instead of accepting reality, we focus on some non-call and penalties and blame it all on that.

Cha-Ching is free to wallow in his victimhood and humiliation.

I for one do not!

Good Evening!
