He is and he's been doing that (RB) since his High School days up here in Dallas (Desoto, TX) but in space ... he'll hurt you bad.

Deebo is a weapon.

Fun fact:

KC only has 4 quarterbacks in their franchise history to reach the playoffs without being a former 49er. They are; Len Dawson, Bill Kenney, Matt Cassel and Patrick Mahomes.

All their other QBs to bring them to the playoffs came from the Niners: Steve DeBerg, Joe Montana, Steve Bono, Elvis Grbac and Alex Smith.

This SB should be called the DeBerg-Montana-Bono-Grbac-Smith Bowl.

The 49ers have 6 passing attempts. They’re kicking the Packers ass with the run.

and they're riding the hot hand with Mostert.... Something our coach refused to do when Murray was outplaying Kamara.

A-A-Ron can start pouting now. Not getting the PI calls that usually walk the Packers down the field when they're at Lambeau.

Only real positive out of this game is seeing Rodgers exposed as a fraud again. At least our playoff losses with Brees are close and all winnable games we screwed up on. When GB losses with their immortal, super amazing QB, it's always a big blow out.

In 3 short years, Niners have gone from losers & the laughing stock of the league to NFC Champs & a chance at another SB ring in 2 weeks. John Lynch has drafted extremely well & it's paying off.

This team was 4-12 last year.

Several things have went right for them, including an unfortunate event that turned into a great circumstance.

If Jimmy G don't go down for the season with his injury, they probably don't finish 4-12 and in a spot to draft Bosa.

I remember when Lynch was hired and many fans laughed about it and thought he would screw up their drafts. Most of us also laughed at them hiring Shanahan after the 28-3 blown SB.

Re: 2019-20 Conference Championship Games

Forgot to mention - despite already being stacked with good talent on offense, they were willing to pull the trigger and make a trade for Emmanuel Sanders.

I wanted us to get Sanders so bad. Instead, we did no trades and just kept telling ourselves that this team was good enough to reach the SB without a second legit WR. When we played the Niners and Sanders went off on us for a big game, that was humiliating.

I hate the 49ers like everyone on here. Growing up in the 80's, believe me, that team was the bane of our existence. I remember the days of hating them more than the Falcons.

I absolutely hated the Harbaugh coached Niners cause he was an annoying whiner of a head coach and that team always had excuses for their failures. They blamed the refs for calling the Brandon Jacobs fumble and some big hits in the 2011 NFCCG, they whined about not getting PI calls in the 2012 SB, and then in 2013 they did legit get some bad calls against them in Seattle. But it don't excuse those teams got out-coached and out-played in the big games.

This 49ers team though, I hate to give them credit but I have to. Kyle Shanahan has a track record at this point of completely demolishing our defenses. He isn't trying to get big stats with his QB. People have complained all year that Jimmy G is a game manager, but they're winning games not asking their QB to throw it 30+ times. That team is incredibly balanced. Their defense is also legit and I wish our defense played with the kind of discipline they have to avoid penalties. We ranked in the top 5 all year on penalties, mostly thanks to the secondary drawing dumb PI calls.

Easy to hate them, but I respect them a lot more than I ever did the Harbaugh teams.

When i got into football in the early 90’s i was a big steve young fan. Don't crucify me, lol. So i always liked SF but i loved NO i know it sounds weird being in the same division at the time. But imma weird guy. Anyways when young left i didn't care about SF and as you said i hated them with Harbaugh but after his ass left my hatred for them calmed. They just don't bother me like ATL, LAR, DAL, NE, MIN, SEA, and GB. I’ll prolly get some flack from most here for liking SF as a kid and still loving the Saints. But oh well.

Can't crucify you for liking Steve Young. The guy was legit and an underdog his entire career despite being a statistically dominant QB who is only now appreciated in the era of advanced stats when people go back and realize he was great. He was always in Montana's shadow, even after he got a ring. Young also took some of the most brutal hits I ever seen a QB take. I seen him take some brutal helmet to helmet hits from the pocket. It seemed like teams intentionally targeted him to take him out of games. This led to the Niners backups Bono and Grbac becoming hot commodities when the team still won games without their starting QB.

I have always felt bad for Young. When going through DVOA and stats of the 90s, he is always, always in the top 3 of QBs for every year up to his retirement and was #1 until 1995 when Favre overtook him and yet even after that, during Favre's prime, Young had some great years left in him.

Young is also a hard QB to analyze cause he was rarely healthy after 1994, which was his best season. The Niners probably win another SB in 1995 to go back to back to if he didn't sustain injuries that year and have to miss time. They finished the season with the #1 ranked defense, but only went 11-5 and then drew the Packers in the playoffs. GB was their kryptonite. Their highlight of the year was going into Dallas and stomping the Cowboys without Young starting.

I often see Rodgers compared to him due to their circumstances of replacing a HoF QB, but Rodgers has regressed since 2014. Young still led the league in TDs at age 38 and his entire prime was all through his 30s. I hate the Niners, but I have always respected him, even more so since digging into DVOA stuff.

Those Chiefs teams were likable and easy to root for.

Joe Montana, Marcus Allen, Derrick Thomas and Neil Smith. 3 HoFers and a great All Pro player.

90s Chiefs had some great defenses and it's really hard to believe those teams never won a playoff game after 1993. They finished 13-3 twice and couldn't win a playoff game at home.

Re: 2019-20 Conference Championship Games

If the Chiefs can beat this Niners team in 2 weeks, then hats off to Mahomes and Andy Reid.

After our heart breaks and going through rough patches, I'm to a point where I root for guys labeled as "chokers". I would be happy to see Reid get over the hump and win a SB.

The 1994 49ers? Yes... They are the reason the salary cap came into play.

Their off season that year was crazy. They basically assembled a pro bowl roster with all their defensive signings. They picked up Richard Dent, Charles Mann, Ken Norton, Rickey Jackson, Deion Sanders, Gary Plummer and a few others. Even on offense, they were able to snag a few gems for a loaded roster. Ed McCaffrey won 3 SBs in his career - that one, and then the back to back with Denver a few years later.

The 1997-1998 Broncos also cheated the cap pretty hard and are the main other team besides SF who are the reason why there had to be such strict rules intact for the salary cap going into the 2000s.

That story at least had a happy ending with a guy called Favre making them into their punching bag in the playoffs back then lol.

On a serious note, I was happy Rickey Jackson was able to get a ring, which probably helped him get into the Hall of Fame in the long run. Canton seems to consider guys more seriously if they have a ring.

Most Pats fans I talk to have been happy for Jimmy G's success in SF, but are also mad as hell they couldn't find a way to keep him and force Brady into retirement. The Pats future would've been set with him, even if he's only seen as a 'game manager'.

Sainters7 01-19-2020 09:03 PM

Re: 2019-20 Conference Championship Games

To be fair he only had 6 completions, and 0 passes in the 3rd Q lol. And the Pats have won 2 more rings since Jimmy G left so I don't feel bad for them one bit. But yeah I hear ya, stings to see the would-be heir apparent thriving elsewhere.

I don't feel bad for the Pats either, it's impossible to after witnessing all their success in the past two decades. I hang out on their forums though and have for years. Their fans (for the most part) are fun to chat football with and tend to be very knowledgeable about NFL history and offering good insights on the AFC teams. They also get my respect for being the only fan base I've been around who don't hate the Saints.

Re: 2019-20 Conference Championship Games

It was not lost on me that the Chiefs reached the Super Bowl in part because Andy Reid stayed patient and ran the ball sufficiently. The Chiefs had long drives of their own to keep Henry off the field and protect their defense. For all those different coverage changes and looks the Titans threw at Mahomes, it never even seemed to bother him. Quite a talent. And the Chiefs OL is somewhat underrated, they held up quite well. Good luck KC, no love lost for the 49ers.

Another year without watching the Super bowl. The NFL sucks. Even though we were flat footed most of the season we should have been playing deep in the playoffs....and I don't mean the wild card game.
