Senior Bowl
My buddy has press passes and we try to go to practice every year. After my rugby match Saturday we will be going to the game. I've been asked more than once if I'm a scout because I'm decked out in Saints gear.
Who should I keep an eye on? I'll be watching the wide receivers mostly. |

Find us a brute at left or right guard, please and thank you.

Re: Senior Bowl
G. WR and LB.
QB … Jordan Love. Here's his chance to make some "noise" like Josh Allen did. The Saints will need to draft a QB either this year or next. |
Re: Senior Bowl
G, RB, and a true FS for starters. Also if you don't mind a press cb. out of Florida State named Stanford Samuals lll.

Re: Senior Bowl
I always watch the big uglies but besides a bull rush I don't know what to look for. I'll keep an eye on the QB's as well but it's hard to determine an NFL QB attributes besides a pretty ball.

Especially with a top pick. I'm proceeding with caution however I'd ultimately pass on Tua in the draft. |

IIRC Josh Allen had some good and bad moments at the senior bowl however he's progressed well at the next level. |

Re: Senior Bowl
Quarterback Scouting?
Well, first things you look for his what he physically measures? Some of these things can be problematic, but overcome - Drew Brees' height for example... Second, is can he make all the throws consistently? If the out throw (intermediate distance to sideline) with zip (as to avoid pick-6) and the deep ball are not there forget it... But touch as it's referred also has to be there; and that encompasses not only lobs to a RB for a screen but all passes that arrive to the receiver optimally so they have advantage for YAC... Third, would be pocket presence and mobility, that symbiotic relationship with the offensive line to stay protected to allow for consistent throwing motion; being able to gash defenses upfield and keep them honest... Fourth, and this is where Senior Bowls and QB camps are of another benefit, how quickly do they process and adapt; most teams are successful on their initial drives and then defenses adapt... But how those QBs can counter-adapt and still have enough moves, throws, and maintain their composure can be gauged as the landscape of the game is constantly shifting underneath them... Fifth, and this is the other opportunity the Senior Bowls and QB camps afford, how quickly does the leadership qualities show where that QB steps up and takes charge of men he barely knows... A pet peeve where the NFL Combine falls short - every attendee should have time to interview with all 32 NFL franchises; with the financial resources available to the NFL, not having enough time is a BS excuse... Football is all these folks do. It is their careers, livelihood. If the combines need to be longer, or expand the regional combines, do it. The NFL can market those events and increase profits to offset costs... |

Utah State QB Jordan Love name is coming up quite a bit at Senior bowl practices. Saints will have to draft a QB either this year or next. Who knows ... let the guy "sit" for a year, then let's geaux! Keep a lazy eye on him as well ;). Due Diligence. |
Re: Senior Bowl
The practice has been moved inside and is closed to the public. Heavy rain at practice. My apologies. Great info though ya'll.

The next day and Love was missing all over the field; yes, he has the athleticism but apparently not focus, and as we learned with Kenny Vaccaro, you can't take meds for ADD or other failure-to-focus ailments... |

Lack of talent around him in 2019 as compared to 18, accuracy issues etc. Some scouts even made the comparison with Pat Mahommes (gunslinger mentality) w/Love ... and we know how Sean P felt about Pat coming out of the draft. If Andy didn't select him, he was coming to NO. Utah St was clearly outmatched vs LSU last year but you saw some NFL throws from JL. IMO Love could be a real possibility for us. Finding & drafting a franchise QB is so hard to do at the elite level. |

However, long-term studies of Adderall use for ADHD suggest heart disease, and we've been down that road as well; sucks, but prior-medicals are always problematic... |

AT&T doesn't carry the NFL network anymore(I guess Godhell pissed them off too). Would anyone care to share the highlights?

Re: Senior Bowl
I like Anthony Gordon. I think he has the right tools to be a pretty good pro quarterback and a fraction of the cost in regards to some of the other guys.

Re: Senior Bowl

In the beginning Payton surrounded Drew with top draft picks at the WR position because Drew wasn't a legend yet. We went away from that in the prime years and it's time to go back to possession receivers....we don't need a speedster because we can't throw it deep consistently anymore. |

Re: Senior Bowl
Andrus Peat was defeated a lot last season. He's either on his back, placed on IR or putting his QB in bad spots. Easton was solid as back up, helping Brees have a really good December. The minute Peat returns, he's back to looking awful again.
I try to be as objective as I can on Saints players, however when it comes to Andrus Peat, he's one guy I hope is not on our team in 2020. |
