Maybe because the G'nats talent cupboard is bare?

Or perhaps Janoris shared some interesting insight?

Instead he'll continue to plague us with late game defensive breakdowns for the foreseeable future.

DB's can play well all game, but as soon as its 2 minutes to go, they just forget how to play the ball.

I've been questioning just how good he is lately.

IDK fellas ... mixed bag for me.

Too bad we don't know what goes on behind the scenes and I have no way to determine who's in game decisions are getting us exploited late in games.

Saints need to change up things. New ideas are needed on the back end.

The secondary broke down a little late last season. Injuries. Personalities. Coaching. A combination. As a whole, talent wise, I believe they under achieved. I also believe Glenn has done more with less. Which leads me to believe it was more about the players than the coaching. That being said, the leader has to work the room and make the magic happen. Hopefully everyone will look in the mirror and get on the same page.

In game defensive decisions are made by the DC. The position coach's job is to get players ready. Once the players are out on the field it is out of the individual coaches hands.

This is my take, as well. It is up to the players to make the plays. That said, not many DB's have the ability to cover all the way down the field. At some point they need pressure from the line to affect the throw. Given time the WR and QB are at a great advantage. That circle back around to losing our two first round draft choices on the defensive starting front, Rankins and Davenport to the IR down the stretch.

Different, more restrictive set of coverage rules today, he'd get killed on the outside by big receivers...

Kittle has been doing that to opposing DB's across the league for the past two years now. The guy is a monster.

Knowing how to do something and actually doing it successfully are not necessarily inclusive. The best defensive players of all time have been made to look foolish at times by tremendously talented offensive players.

IIRC the big play that happened in OT (Vikes) was summation of the same thing that happened 2 years ago. Not enough pressure on Cousins, WR beats his man to make a catch, safety is either out of position or late to have an effect on the play.

When the same mistakes or "issues" occur on a consistent basis on the back end ... you have to look at coaching.

The deep ball breakdowns is costing us from advancing.

Ed McCaffrey talked about this on NFL radio a couple of weeks ago. He said no DB can stay with WR if the QB is given time. Coverage will almost always break down. The safety will be out of position because the coverage has expired. There is going to be a WR, or other player, in a spot where the safety cannot make a play.

Bruce Gradkowski, also on NFL Radio, said that a WR can only be covered effectively for the first 20-25 yards down field. If the protection holds up log enough for the receiver to make it 40+ yards downfield his chances of beating the DB goes up tremendously.

In my opinion we see the breakdowns late in games because the defensive front is getting too gassed to give the necessary pressure thus hanging the defensive backfield out to dry.

At the NFL level? There is zero excuse for poor tackling form at the professional level. Form tackling is a mainstay in peewee, Jr. High, High School, College...

I was doing Oklahomas and open field form tackling drills in the 7th grade.

The Giants management is a dumpster fire right now. This was a smart move to avoid them.
