USA Today/Saints Wire: Sean Payton suggests Saints could sign Taysom Hill to a long-term extension

I hope so. Not every day you can pretty much block a punt on command or run an option for a dang-near guaranteed 1st down. Big weapon.

I think Payton can get more out of him as a utility player than as a QB anywhere(else). Love me some Taysom! My twin brother has a man crush on him. I can't blame him. Lol

WITH THE MONEY FREED UP BY LETTING TB AND PEAT GO WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PAY HIM WHAT HES WORTH. A 4 YEAR DEAL IS MY THOUGHTS. PROBABLY AROUND 5-8 MILLION A YEAR WITH MOST BACKLOADED.

1st Round Tender means that SP sees Hill as Brees replacement.

What we can assume is that Taysom is that important to the Saints offense at this time in his multi-role status... Consider this factoid - Last season, Taysom Hill had more Touchdowns down Odell Beckham... Considering our total lack of production from Wide Receivers not named Michael Thomas, when you look at Taysom's production, he's a bargain for the amount AG cited... |

I would pony up if I were Saints management. A team like Baltimore or KC would improve having Hill. Imagine Hill on the same field with Jackson, Ingram, and adding another wr to go along with what they have now, could be extreamly potent on the O, or with McHomes and their O. We would getting if they bite would be a late 1st, and probably not as productive?

Could be the key to Drew's longevity to keep Taysom around.

My point is that there is no way that Taysom Hill does not get a long term deal. Why wait on it though? The reason is if he becomes our QB he will certainly want a bigger contract than 4.6M. That is why the front office is walking the fine line though. We certainly don't want to lose him, but we also don't want to lock him in at a price yet until we've seen him behind center more. He's probably even hesitant to take a long term deal at anything around 4.6M/year cause he believes he can be a starting QB. 4.6M still not worth it for any other team that just views him as WR3 or TE2 though. It is a weird situation and I think we are playing it correctly. |
