USA Today/Saints Wire: Saints brass talk depth of WR class, possibility of trading down

Re: USA Today/Saints Wire: Saints brass talk depth of WR class, possibility of trading down
That's a really good article about our draft history under Payton and his thought process between building the roster and tweaking it. Payton has shown that he will go after the player he feels strongly about. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But mostly he's gotten the right player in the draft since Jeff Ireland came to town.

We are trading up...

Did it with Davenport and McKoy. I see no reason why they won't do it in this year's draft. |

So we draft LSU's Jefferson?

All kidding aside the more I read the more I think the Saints will wait until the middle in the draft to get a WR. From what I understand this draft is a little thin at OL and I feel like that may be where they spend their first pick. Don’t know if I like it but as long as we get a Wr that can make an impact week 1 I’m happy. |

with the wr depth in this draft Higgins should be there in rd 2. trade out and get some picks. Higgins would easily be a top 15 pick if this were any other year. |

With the team selecting at pick No. 24, Saints could move back in a trade, ideally with IND, CHI, or MIA (all have two second round picks)... We could then take a CB2 or TEy and a WRz, and that WR would be like getting a first round WR in any other draft because of the depth of the class... |

There may be some who say he played a lot in the slot (in which he did) however he has ability to play on the outside as well. Body control, instincts, already familiar with Pro concepts & is polished as a route runner. My LSU homer glasses are off ... JJ is very good WR Pro prospect and was solid before Burrow arrived at LSU :bng:. His combine & Pro Day performances are just gravy for him. Trust the tape. |

However Reagor's plays the game so much faster and with it being a copy-cat league, Saints, specifically Sean, will want his own Tyreek Hill sans off-the-field drama... Having that home-run threat on every play will open this offense up as when we had Cooks and Thomas at the same time which was as lethal as anything the KC Chiefs have had recently... |

I hope this draft is different. There is simply too much talent 70 miles away from Metarie Drive to ignore. Defensive backs, RB, WR & LB. Same goes for other LA schools ... Nicholls St., La Tech, USL, Grambling, SU or whatever. Due Diligence. |
