AJ Klein Signs With Bills
 

The Bills have agreed to terms with linebacker A.J. Klein on a three-year, $18 million deal that includes $9.7 million fully guaranteed, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott coached Klein when McDermott was defensive coordinator with the Panthers.

Klein, 28, spent the past three seasons in New Orleans.

He started 42 of the 43 games he appeared in for the Saints, making 193 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and nine pass breakups.

Klein played his first four seasons in Carolina after the Panthers made him a fifth-round choice.

Good deal for him. I think a cheaper alternative is already in house.

I think AJ kinda got the Shanle treatment here: a lot of criticism, but put up consistent numbers.

A.J. was good, but always a step short from making the big play. Also, a big liability against the pass but solid against the run.

How we won a SB with Shanle I do not know. Think I recall there was some nepotism or something involved on him making the team.

AJ Klein is all effort, smart guy but we can definitely upgrade at the position.

Joe Schobert is still out there.

Shanle was voted the defensive MVP by his fellow players.

Shanle was not bad. He finished 3rd in tackles during the 2009 postseason.

I think we end up in the same position with Schobert. Perhaps he’s a little smarter or more of playmaker than Klein, but he lacks speed and quick twitch athleticism. That’s what we need at the position. We gotta be able to fly around. Davis has it. Anzalone has it but he can’t stay healthy. We gotta go for Littleton.

Quite possible however Joe is much better in coverage than AJ.

FWIW, I wanted Jamie Collins :(.

Outside of Joe, Olgletree & Littleton ... IMO it's not a whole lot left out there in FA. Saints need to get faster here.

Ogletree surprised me when he didn’t live up to the hype. He adds some speed though. I think if we can snag Littleton and get Anzalone back on the field we can be alright.

For a 7th rd pick of Dallas and a we got him in a trade for a 7th rd pick he helped us win a SB he’s a fav of mine with a heart as big as secretariat’s what a steal
