He graded poorly the last two seasons. Both seasons he was injured. One with a broken arm. That we know of...

Dang. Ya'll know he's a pro bowl guard when healthy, right? Or have we forgotten?

Terron came around last year. Peat can too.

I do not defer to the front office because I think they are right... Much like a draft pick, only time will determine that.

I defer to the front office because they made a business decision with more information then we all cumulatively possess.

Far too logical.

So? How does that help us now? Ohhhh he's gonna be healthy this time, got ya. I dont do half empty/ half full. That's all BS. I do the smell test. If it smells like ****, prolly just regular ol ****. This smells a lot like ****.. Sanders signing smells like roses though.

BTW I hope peat makes me eat every last word and plays outstanding.

My guess is its a necessary contract, obviously backloaded (5 years!)
Probably really cap friendly for Bees's remaining seasons.

I'm sure there's a massive amount of money in year 4 and 5 that he will never see.

He won't … unfortunately and we'll never confuse Peat with Carl Nicks on the field either. I will never be ok with this re signing of a often injured, often beaten guard that some believe is the truth at the position.

Hopefully we draft another lineman for the future.

Incognito still has plenty of gas in the tank, I would have loved his mean streak on the front line. Peat doesn't have a mean streak and it shows.

Exactly. Continuity is vital on the offensive line. As it was, even given the injuries, they were one of the best in the league.

Re: Saints agree to terms with G/T Andrus Peat on five-year contract

Not only did we resign a Pro Bowl talent, we paid less than other top guards receive. That’s value.

Peat had two bad years due to significant injury and had a couple
bad games everyone remembers because he faced elite competition.

Personally I’m looking forward to watching the 26 year old reclaim his status as a top 10 NFL guard this season

Re: Saints agree to terms with G/T Andrus Peat on five-year contract

I would much rather have drafted a tackle who can play guard and will eventually be able to move outside when necessary.

The Pillsbury dough boy just netted a nice paycheck for spending all his time on his ass. He's soft! He was soft when he first came to camp and he was soft every single year since!

I'm a little nauseous thinking about how bad our line looked when he was in the game. Poor Drew! It's possibly his final year and we gave him the same O-line that got him hurt and got thumped toward the end of the season. I'd be upset if I were him.

Really don't when Incognito could do a better job for less money and draft a OG, makes no sense at all, money wise or play wise. If he's weak that's a chink in the armor. Upgrading lines are a must, battles are won or lost in the trenches.

Re: Saints agree to terms with G/T Andrus Peat on five-year contract

Makes me laugh that they refused to pay Carl Nicks what he deserved, he was a top 5 guard from the moment we drafted him. Yet they are willing to pay this out of shape, lackluster player.

Re: Saints agree to terms with G/T Andrus Peat on five-year contract

Peat gets Drew injured, it was a freak injury but if peat doesn’t get beat it doesn’t happen. Then when he comes back from being out 6 games (of which our offense looked amazing), he gets absolutely destroyed in the playoffs and was targeted by the Vikings game plan...

All that said and we sign him to a big contract lol

Per PFF, Peat ranked 69th among 80 offensive guards in 2019.

Good for a 48.5 grade.

That's very poor.

When healthy he's very good. His versatility takes it over the top. The Saints got off cheap in regards to value.

48.5 grade.....let that sink in for a moment. He rates worse than every other starting guard in the league.

I'm only going by what I've seen with my own eyes and it didn't look good. In fact he looked pitiful.

I've never seen a pro football player that is so soft. He obviously doesn't work out like a pro or he'd be in better shape. Personally, I think he's lazy and won't put in the work on or off the field!
