Guess he'll work with Jeaux Burreaux.

****. Really hoped we could retain him. Cap casualty but he will be missed and we will regret it.

We had 8 million a year for Jenkins but couldn't keep Bell? WTF?

I think Bell was ***** footing and we decided to move on Jenkins while we had the chance. Kind of like Ingram last year. Look how long he took to sign. His original price tag was most likely too high.

We offered Bell $7.5 mil/year but he and his agent weren’t interested thinking they could get more on the open market. They were wrong.

Ingram. Same story. Don’t wed yourself to players... it’s a business for them too!!

FWIW, Jenkins is much better in coverage vs Bell. Is anyone besides me tired of those late game blunders & miscues from our secondary? Tired of not being able to close? Malcolm will correct a lot of that with his leadership. 2 rings, solid locker room guy and can make plays.

Good luck to Bell in Cincy though.

Win NOW folks. Win now.

Let's recap ...

So the Saints offered a solid contract to Vonn, he or his agent dragged their feet or whatever. Ended up getting less money to play for that team? A perennial dumpster fire organization?

He bet on himself and lost.

You’ve got to know when to hold them and know when to fold them. Saints moved on when the delta between performance, value and timing made a business decision timely and in the best interest of the team. Jenkins was the best Safety available on the market ... An all in move by the Saints.

I don't believe for one second Bell turned down $23 million. If he did, he needs to fire his agent immediately.

I think he did fire his agent then signed on with the agent who demanded too much money. Talk about watching a plan back fire....

Well, it's all about how the offer was structured - maybe he wanted more guaranteed money then the Saints were willing to offer?!

The overall value or the $/year values that are thrown around rarely mean a whole lot since most contracts aren't being played out, but are cut short for one reason or another.

Yup. It is the guaranteed amount that means everything. The rest is fluff for the fans and their egos.

The present day NFL is becoming the new apprenticeship system of training for a new generation of 1st through 5th year players. The NFL is looking more and more like college teams with their similar offenses and player turnover.
