Giving back to people in his hometown. Good stuff right there.

With cases of coronavirus on the rise, New Orleans Saints All-Pro return specialist Deonte Harris wanted to give back to the cities he calls home, but he wasn't sure exactly how to go about it.

After discussing potential options with his family and marketing team, Harris decided on donating the equivalent of 10,740 meals to two food banks, with 6,240 going to the Second Harvest Food Bank in Louisiana and 4,500 meals donated to the Maryland Food Bank

He can't afford to send 5 million like Drew. But he's giving an awful lot for someone who was an UDFA and makes very little money. This team is loaded with high character players and good men.

Agreed. When a guy trying to secure himself a home for his future and that of his family gives like that? Big Props...

Definitely, nice to see a guy who can give like that when he isnt established and in terms of NFL standards, isnt "rich."

Valiant gesture but nobody is starving and we already have a national food stamp program with the #1 purchased item with them being soda.

Maybe next time donate 10K 2 liters of Coca Cola.

I wouldn't say nobody's starving, there's good people out there living check to check who have suddenly had the rug pulled out from under them through no fault of their own.

Now they have to use what little they have to try to meet obligations and not go hungry.

There's people who've made a lifestyle circumventing the system, but this is different.

And this is why we have food stamps. I already pay for this service. Are you saying they are too dumb to apply for food stamps. Sounds like it.

Did you pay for THESE meals, or did Deonte? More than you’ve ever given in you entire existence from the sound of it.

The govt takes forever to do anything. This will help if anyone is stuck in the gap.

Some of these “dumb” people are elderly folks trying to make it off of social security and checking receipts at walmart.

Don’t be so dense and arrogant.

Will, I think he's trying to say that the government is there for them. You have to apply and be approved before you can get any type of subsidy but that takes time and lot's of folks aren't getting a check now.
