I wonder if draft time clock is going to be the same or they will make longer allotments to account for everyone being remote and that it may take a little longer to strategize.

This draft is going to be a disaster.

FIFY: This draft is going to show who does their homework, scouting ahead of time and who is just wingin' it because they've a job due to nepotism...

Why? They were drafting under worse conditions a few decades ago. No computers or immediate contact. Chill, my friend. It might be the best to have the throw back type draft. Whatever happens in the draft happens, but in the scheme of things it isn't important at all. It's a good time to take my usual philosophy and sit back and take in whatever happens and thank God you and yours are healthy.

In one of his interviews Goodell mentioned basically the league will be managing the backbone and will make considerations when they know there's a technical problem...

Also, there will be a phone conference call when a team is on the clock - there will be redundancy...

Will there be some problems? Likely. But I'm sure they'll be rehearsals to create possible scenarios to address...

Oh I’m all for the throw back type of draft... It’s just the idea of nobody even being in the same room for every team sounds so problematic.

You know what I’m going to miss about the draft? Roger Goodell getting booed mercilessly when he walks out on stage. That’s always a great highlight to the show.

Watching ESPN talking about it. The clock will tic. All personnel at home, alone. Communication flow has to be simple, fast , to not , hopefully, drop. Pick your players and move along.

It will be interesting.
April 23-25.

So it's safe for the league to set up in Vegas and get all the people in there to film, studio analysts etc. Go and set up video links in their homes. But it's not safe for teams to do similar at their HQ. Surely just tell the teams, they can ha e a small team say 3/4 at the HQ the rest on the phone, they can hire a venue, have it deep cleaned, and keep distancing protocols going on but allow them there. Even tell them they have stay there and do it at a local hotel.

Surely would be easier

This draft is a great opportunity to analyze (after the fact) how well a team did in this throwback environment, examine what they were forced to do differently, and then determine what improved or hurt them.

I hope NO is more dependent on tape vs the "draft process"

Also, like it put the damper on more in person player interviews.
(I'm in HR and I am telling you, personal interviewing is dead last in successful selection tools. Instead, interview those who ALREADY KNOW the player.)

Love we must rely more on completed scouting vs the on-the-spot scouting many think they can suddenly complete during draft time.

One prediction I'll make re: the Covid-19 hindered NFL Draft:

We may not see that many trades because of restricted communication...

This is the comment of the week and I could not agree more.

This is the first time that I'll watch the draft in years. However, you know Roger Godhell will still be announcing the draft picks and without the booing it might not be worth watching after all.

Can you imagine if the networks played background sound effects of booing while he made the announcements?

I changed my mind. It's just Roger in his basement. Could it possibly get any more boring than that? God, I almost hate that man!:censored:

There are going to be fans on screen behind him throughout the broadcast according to NFL Radio and they said that those people can be expected to boo at appropriate times. There are contests to enter to try to be one of those fans representing your team. The Saints site posted one a couple of days ago.

Good. We'll start a habit of Roger getting booed at home. The staff probably already boo him......
