Sean Payton wanted Mississippi State quarterback Tommy Stevens, and he got tired of asking nicely.

Stevens joined the "Hangin’ With Hester" radio show in Baton Rouge on Friday to speak about his experience with last week’s NFL draft. The New Orleans Saints traded back into the seventh round to select Stevens 240th overall, and Stevens shared a funny story about how that came to be.

There was no way that Payton was going to let a player that he obviously has a vision for not suit up on Sundays. Payton tried to convince him on the phone then then said "screw it.....draft him!" He's going to be in our camp.

Saints can say they will match without offering formally. The Panties is the party who prematurely offered. Trading for him actually makes it look better for the Saints.
