Fans quite possibly won’t be present for football games in 2020. But that doesn’t mean it will be quiet.

Via John Ourand of Sports Business Journal, FOX’s Joe Buck told Andy Cohen of SiriusXM Radio that “it’s pretty much a done deal” that the FOX and other networks will use fake crowd noise for games played without fans.

Buck also suggested that virtual fans will be used, so that when a wide shot happens the fans at home will see the appearance of a full stadium. Even if it isn’t.

FFS is humanity so mentally compromised that we have to live in a stage? This has nothing to do with Saints football but everything to do with that they will do with football this year.

It certainly won't take anything away from the viewing of the game if there isn't going to be any crowd in the stadium to begin with. I have no issue with it. I hope they can mock up "Whistle Man" in the fake crowd. Will it be as good as a real crowd? Of course not. But, to me, it would make it marginally better viewing than a completely empty stadium. I simply see no negative as compared to the alternative.

Devils advocate... It is a 1/2 measure aimed at product quality but does not address the integrity of the game. Piping crowd noise into my living room does nothing for crowd noise present at a home field game.

If they were to pipe crowd noise into the game to simulate traditional football, would the noise volume be adjusted to match what that field normally sees?

I don't want to hear fake piped in noise, we get enough of that when we play ATL.

If there are no fans, just let it be, it will be interesting to hear the sounds of the game.

It has to do with the foul language I suppose there’s no way they have time to bleep out every single curse word (nice ones) to the many F-bombs that come from the sidelines it’s live and only 5 sec delay most of the time

It could be they don't want us to hear the players using profanity and offensive smack talk. With a good surround speaker setup it's amazing what you can pick up. Hard to hear with the crowd but I can hear it barely. Even stupid stuff in the booth.

I cant say its THE stupidest sh*t I've even heard, because this year has
been full of stupid sh*t.

But this is some stupid sh*t.

- on a happy note, I have discovered old 70s games on YouTube, and I have to say you will find them more entertaining than any modern game, including the Super Bowl. The commercials alone, sing along if you're this old to all the old jingles, and $5400 for a full sized sedan, make it worth your view.

You'll be delighted at the PACE of the game, the absence of endless stoppages and delays, and NO REPLAY... Play ball, stop whining, get up and play ball some more. Not to mention, the absence of endless stupid graphics and clutter blocking your view of the actual game experience.
