Panthers move Davis to LB
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Carolina Panthers moved first-round draft pick Thomas Davis from safety to linebacker on Monday because of depth concerns following an injury to Brandon Short.
Short injured his foot in Saturday night's preseason game against Washington, and the Panthers aren't sure how long he'll be out. Chris Draft, who has backed up Short at strongside linebacker, has had a handful of asthma attacks that have limited him in training camp. It'll be interesting to see how he adjusts with so few weeks left before the season starts. There are 1st round LBs that don't start their first year with mini camps and all under their belts. It's gonna be tough.

Well when they drafted him, they expected him to make a move to linebacker sooner or later. He'll be fine... he excels in the box.

I recall reading some early draft reports that had us taking him with our first pick and putting him at Lb also. I'm sure he can make the move. I'm happy with who we took in round 1. Brown seems like a keeper. Bullocks also impresses.
