RE: Re: RE: Question... for you trivia buffs
what do n/m mean? I am a little ignorant when it come to computer lingo
|
Having your name mentioned as a footnote in a franchise's history does not mean you are "in" the hall of fame.
He was also never with the big league club, it was a minor league team that he pitched for. Completely bogus trivia question. He did not pitch for the Marlins...he pitched in their organization. |
Technically... he is in Denver but yes the ball, glove and cap are in Cooperstown, with his name for throwing the very first pitch of the Marlins 'organization'. Perhaps isn't 'in shrined' but he is in Cooperstown.
|
You said he threw the first ever pitch for the Florida Marlins. He did not, Charlie Hough did.
To anyone who knows anything about sports, being "in" the Hall means that you were inducted into the hall of fame. Deion Sanders probably has his name mentioned somewhere in the baseball hall of fame and he is in the NFL, but he is not "in" the hall of fame. There are all kinds of achievements and milestones noted in the Hall, but the people involved are just historical footnotes. Tom Dempsey's kick is certainly mentioned in Canton, but he is not a hall of famer. Bogus question. Trust me. |
where does the question say inducted?
|
Nowhere, but if you ask any educated sports fan about a guy being in the Hall it means that they are a member of the Hall....not mentioned there because they pitched for a minor league team.
You said he pitched for the Marlins, which is false. The question is weak and you asked for trivia buffs...a sports trivia buff would tell you that. |
Lynch did... was drafted by the Marlins... played for there organization. An Educated sports fan might also be smart enought to consider asking themself "was he inducted or not"... hmmm.
assuming also that the player would not have played a "career in MLB" due to the fact he is currently playing in the NFL. |
He never pitched for the Florida Marlins. It's a fact. He pitched for one of their (note correct spelling) minor league teams (there is a big difference).
If I said the Atlanta Braves were going to play the Florida Marlins and you showed up to Turner field to watch a minor league team play the Braves, that would be different...right? As for your smart enough comment.....I guess I'll just ignore it. Send your cute little question in to Stump the Schwab or the Dan Patrick show. If you said "Name the Saints' players that are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame", according to your logic, you would name every Saint whose name appears anywhere in Canton. Whereas the correct answer would be that no Saints players are in the Hall of fame. When you hear someone say...is he a hall of famer? Would they say, well he did call the coin toss for the first game ever at Ford Field? So yeah, he's a hall of famer. Gimme a break. I should have just done what Tobias did and told you the correct answer...no one. |
Yasoon is right. The question does say "in the HoF"... to anyone but you "in the HoF" means that someone is enshrined in the Half Of Fame.
Bogus question... the entire thread should go to the Trash Can... |
NFL NETWORK reported day before yesterday that John Lynch is in the Hall of Fame for baseball for throwing the first pitch ever for the Florida Marlins Organizaion.

oh, the www.answers.com wikipedia... that internet bastion of accurate information...
.. the question is the sports equivalent of "I know where you got your shoes"... Trash Can!!! |
|
.. so you keep posting links that say John Lynch threw the first pitch for a minor league affiliate of the Florida Marlins... which is not in dispute anyway... great...
... Trash Can!!!! |
Dude, nobody ever questioned the fact that he threw out the first pitch for a minor league team. Why are you continually posting the these links?
John Lynch is not a baseball hall of famer and he never pitched for the Florida Marlins, he pitched for the Erie Sailors. Both of those statements are facts....so leave it alone. |
Never said he was a hall of famer... was not an inductee but he is there for...

WOW
This is awesome. |

"John was a second-round draft choice of the Florida Marlins in 1992 (66th overall)... Actually threw first pitch in history of Marlins’ organization... John’s hat now resides in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown." ...give it a rest already... |
thats exactly my point... in the hall, thank you for playing.

.. Here's your original question:
"Name a current player in the NFL who is in the Baseball Hall of Fame" Here's what the article says: "John’s hat now resides in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown" John Lynch's hat is NOT a current player in the NFL. You are trying to be funny, but you are not... ....going to my Danno bin... |
