It's more about LSU than the Saints. Which is fine but I wanted to hear more about the Saints.

It covered the bottom end of the preseason rosters and how anywhere from 45 in a normal year and even more this season will already be pegged as one of the final 53 as training camp even starts. This year those making the squad may have familiarity as an advantage over others. I have heard more than one ex-GM talk about how a certain number of players really have no chance at making the roster, but are required for training and preseason games. I seriously doubt that any late round draft choice or UDFA that has made our team was anywhere near the bottom tier of bodies entering training camp as has been alluded to elsewhere.

The most interesting part to me was the fact that without preseason games you couldn't see players on other rosters that barely miss the final cut. The example they gave was Taysom Hill. Payton saw him in a preseason game and targeted him at the final cut before practice squad assignment.
