CJ Gardner-Johnson Changes Name

Alrighty folks... we got an odd one on our hands here. Our very own CJGJ has announced he’s changing his name.

Ceedy Duce... Yep, Ceedy Duce. As long as he continues his upward trajectory I guess it could be worse.

So long as he plays great, I really don't care what he wants to call himself.

What??

Do we have Chad Johnson playing defensive back for us or Something?

Re: CJ Gardner-Johnson Changes Name

Interesting. IIRC it took Ingram two years to get the NFL to add the II to the end of his NFL nameplate. Edit: found an article on this: https://www.al.com/sports/2017/08/ma...ame_on_ne.html

I wonder if the announcers will acceed to his request.

Listen... This guy (whatever the hell his name is) is pretty emotional. He’s a great player so let’s roll with it but be prepared for random things like this with him.

There’s no doubt that he’s a talented player... but let’s just say there’s a reason that he dropped in the draft. Changing his name twice in the past year is indicative of that.

Scan past forty years of NFL as social media has evolved, there're instances where a player's side gig became a distraction to his team role; as this team, at least on paper, is so close, some recognize those flags...

First recognized this phenomena in professional and big college sports when following Celtics' Larry Bird and he would warn teammates, younger players to be wary of the Big Mo(ney)...

Well you mean his Rap career. My apologies. I hadn't even seen the whole thread. So I went back to the OP and I see what he said about it. All I would say to the man is "you be you".

Meh. Is he a good Rapper?

No doubt. But becoming an NFL player, especially one with a promising career, so much has to go right - good health, favorable system, playing time - His focus should be on that tract at this time...

If I were a veteran player I'd remind him of those things and tell him keep developing yourself on the down-low, get your football career (and credibility) established, get paid, then do you...

Got nothing against his dreams, just think he should focus on one thing, do that well, build his credibility, then take on another project...

I would imagine that career is an off-season activity. I can't see it being a distraction whatsoever. Nobody is as involved in outside activities than Brees and it isn't an issue.

I agree AG. Didn't "outside activities" put the "Broadway " in front of Joe Namath. Did they make Paul Hornung less of a Golden Boy"? It's not the "outside activities" it's what's inside the player that counts.

Change your name, change your phone number, change your gender....I don't care. Just bring your game and don't be a damn distraction. The minute you become a distraction be prepared to change your address.

Ask Adrian Peterson.
