Special Teams kicked ass

Donte Harris Long returns
no block in the back penalties
a blocked kick
drop kick recovery’
Defended an onside kick
perfectly timed nailed tackle / no gain on a punt
the rest were fair catchs or minimal gain
Morstead’s punts were nearly all around the 10 yard line
2 field goals and all extra points

Meh, its a habit that's a little hard to kick entirely. Though I can say that I didn't watch the game today and I never felt like I was missing out on anything. Honestly I keep coming back here mostly because I feel a certain kinship with most of the folks here, even though I don't know any of you personally. I've been a registered member for 9 years and a lurker since many years before that. The league could fold in on itself tomorrow and I'd probably still keep coming here.

Because you are coming off the off-season and hadn't seen a game in 9 months. Visiting here is in your regular pattern and those behaviors are hard to break, its the same as not walking outside to smoke a cigarette after having done it for 10 years.

Honestly I noticed absolutely nothing about yesterdays game being different until they panned across empty sets or commercial time.

I am a purist in that I just love watching football. I didn't notice anything on anyone's helmets or in any end-zones. All I noticed was Kamaras gold shoes and his sparkley mouthpiece lol.

You guys are kind of protesting nothing.

Actually I come here even during the offseason. Call it a pattern if you like, but it has nothing to do with whether or not a game is being played.

I used to love watching football too, but the last several months of being force fed propaganda by the league, the players and the media has soured me on it. I dont consider my not watching to be a protest, I've simply lost interest.

The likely reason you didn't notice anything different during yesterday's game is because the league is beginning to realize that they're pandering to a small percentage of screeching voices on Twitter while alienating their actual fan base. CBS specifically instructed their commentators not to speak on any social justice issues during the game. Fox probably did the same thing. Im sure they'd like nothing more than for everyone to forget that they've spent months telling their fans that they're bad people unless they agree with the league's adopted stance.

Unlike the league, I've never demanded that anyone agree with me. If you still enjoy it then by all means enjoy it. I don't get anything from it anymore.

Doesn’t seem that you understood my first paragraph.

As far as why I didn’t notice anything, the why is irrelevant isn’t it? You complained about being force fed, I have not been force fed anything. Honestly, it would take a couple of very physical and violent people to force feed me anything, I don’t do the victim well. :bng:

Right there with you, Oak. To be bothered by something you have to let it bother you. I watch the NFL for entertainment. What goes on before, during or after the game, as long as it doesn't have anything to do with the game, I don't care. It doesn't hinder my ability to continue enjoying the game. I suppose others are just more inclined to play the victim, Oak.

Spare me the upturned nose friend. I understand that some folks have been very vocal about their displeasure (as is their right) and maybe that has your feathers ruffled. I've made my feelings known a time or two, but I mostly stay out of it, and I'd like to think I've stayed (mostly) pretty respectful when I do wade into those troubled waters. I can appreciate the attempt at subtlety at the end of your post, but I'm a relatively smart guy so I notice the sarcasm and disapproval that oozes from it. You seem not to understand that I don't come here for your approval, your understanding, your sympathy or empathy. You're all just people who are kind of a part of my life now, so I come here and occasionally engage in conversations and share my opinion on any number of subjects. No different than anyone else here. I mean I've got a wife and 7 kids, with number 8 arriving in just a few weeks. Sometimes I just want a little interaction with other adults, even if it is just on the internet. Disagree with me all you like but don't pretend to sit in judgement of me from some imagined high ground. Now you have a good one, and like I said, enjoy your games if you can enjoy them.

I guess some people have the ability to enjoy simple pleasures without letting other things get in the way. I believe it is known as compartmentalism.

And some of us have a sincerely held belief that "the movement" the NFL is supporting is divisive, destructive, and harms most the very people the proponents of the movement claim to be helping.

I think there is more than enough evidence to support that belief.

If we don't want to support those who support that movement, then we have every right to withhold our support.

Yes you do. I doesn't affect anyone but yourself so go ahead. The only thing that is irritating is the constant blowing of "your" own horn glorifying your personal sacrifice.

The "your" refers to all "you" that think the rest of us give a flying rat's ass whether you watch or not.

Best ratings for FOX's week 1 "Game of the Week" since 2016.

Most-watched telecast since Super Bowl LIV.

FOX's most-streamed NFL regular-season Sunday ever.

I don't see it as anyone blowing their own horn. For some, it is a sacrifice - although perhaps not as much as it would have been prior to that horrific missed call in the NFCCG a couple of years ago.

I thought that part of the goal was to "start a conversation." Now it appears that "shut up" is the response to those with a view that is different than the views of those in support of "the movement."

Ironic that he's irritated by people who come here to "blow 'their' own horn" when thats 99% of what he does here. Guess I shouldn't be surprised. The only thing a bag of hot air can do is blow.

He clearly cares a LOT about whether or not people watch, otherwise he wouldn't feel the need to constantly nag people who don't. I'm soooo shocked that he contradicted himself.

I fail to see "shut up" in my response. I simply said that most people are tired of the same people repeatedly letting us know that they are not watching games. Do I like seeing politic involved with the game? No, not really. And that goes both ways. The politics of boycotting is just as irritating as the politics of protesting. Does it keep me from this forum to read and talk about my Saints and the NFL? No. Just as the other doesn't stop me from watching either, as well.

This just shows how well you ascertained the purpose of that post. The whole thread I created some time back was to show the relatively small number of members planning on abstaining from watching the NFL. A few members claimed that the numbers of people refusing to watch the NFL would have a crippling affect on the NFL's revenue stream. Nowhere in that thread did I indicate I had any issue with those individuals choosing to not tune in. My stance has not changed as to that point. The only thing I have pointed out here is that there is nothing to be gained by repeatedly coming to a pro-Saints/NFL forum just to reiterate that you are not watching. And by "you" I am not referring to you because you are still watching the NFL, correct?

He is essentially playing a LB in those sub packages and we were in subs probably 90% of the game.

There is no upturned nose brother. I am very pragmatic even to the point that its none of my business whether you visit B&G or why. I am glad that you do because without people coming here it would be extremely quiet. I don't have an issue with people not watching the NFL, again not my business.

None of the above is my business. Until it gets stuck in front of my face repeatedly and starts showing up in conversations that have nothing to do with that topic. At that point is it s distraction.

I view a person telling what they will do (without being asked) in two ways.. its a threat of action or virtue signaling. I am also cognizant that some people require validation which is a 'whole nother' discussion in it self.

When I pointed out that protesting a protest is effectively repeating unfavorable behavior some people got butt hurt and followed with more unfavorable behavior... none of it made my statement inaccurate just showed how much they were emotionally invested in laying next to a child in Walmart and screaming in chorus. The goal was that at least one person would read it and think '**** he is right, and watch the games'...

Here is a question to ponder. You have 8 children, send me birthday party invites to all of their birthdays. How many times do I have to show up and start exclaiming how much I hate birthday parties just before the candles are blown out before you look at me and ask "then why in the fk are you here"? If I did that it would look like I was just showing up to ruin someone else's day would it not?

Now lets talk about your definition of 'adult interaction' with an emphasis on adult :) LOL
