Didn't see it mentioned ...

Deonte' Harris continues to shine on special teams.

4 returns, 59 yards (long of 18), total 85 all purpose.

14.9 yard average on the day and gave our offense a short field twice.

A weapon.

Agree! And he looks more sure-handed and less skittish our there handling the ball. Did a nice job on that WR reverse too.

Deonte is developing into a great player, he can turn the field position battle in an instant and it was nice to see him catch passes.

The screen pass he caught was a fantastic play.

This is anecdotal at the moment, but I'm waiting to look at scoring, efficiency benchmarks, penalties from Week 1 and from what I'm hearing from people who report on the game, it was the ugliest Week 1 in some time...

And I suspect not having those four preseason games to get it together, like cars racing around the track a few laps till the green flag, had much to do with it...

If I’m not mistaken DPI penalties accounted for over 100 yards of “offense” for TB. I’ll take it as aggressive playing and I like it bc of the two interceptions. Without those two int’s, it could have been a negative difference maker.

No doubt it had some negative effect on play, but it is something that we as fans and coaches may have to get used to. Apparently there is growing support among the players to get rid of them completely. I heard that being discussed by Chris and Kyle Long along with two former player hosts on NFL Radio yesterday.

I also heard from Dr. David Chao that there really wasn't anything out of the norm as far as injuries in week one. There even looked to be fewer head related injuries than normal. He said perhaps the new rules are having an impact.

My main post game observation was the fact that the Saints won and Tampa Bay, Carolina, Atlanta, Minnesota, Dallas AND San Francisco all lost.

What a perfect week of football!

:bng:

Oh, and all three of my fantasy teams got the win, as well.

:D

We look rusty. Tampa looked like more hype than the masked singer.

Re: Saints vs Buccaneers Post-Game Observations

Offensively we looked poor.

What incriminating photo or video does Andrus Peat have on Payton? Paying him 50M is criminal.

O line as a whole was just bad, everytime Kamara or Murray got the ball, there were 6 or 7 defenders right there every time to make the tackle.

Alvin looked healthy but he really needs to work on his blocking, I counted twice in the 3rd quarter that he got Brees decked. One of them, when JPP had a free shot at Brees, we had a receiver wide open heading to the end zone.

Brees was off pretty badly most of the day, he had Bennie Fowler wide open for a deep TD along the sideline, but threw into triple coverage to Sanders, that luckily for him turned into a DPI. Some of it was down to blocking but he certainly seemed panicked - player not immediately open, fire to kamara, 5 yard loss. Rinse and repeat.

Happy we won but it needs to be cleaned up if we are going to go anywhere.
