I would guess that no fewer than 20 people would die of straight up alchohol poisoning. Maybe it's better the way it is :couch: (God it's good to have the smilies back)

And yet my conclusion still stands: you should root for him NOT to goof up. Think back to a time. Let's say, around 1998. The New York Jets were 1-3 with some guy named Glenn Foley as their QB, and behind him was Vinny Testaverde. We all know Vinny's past.....and we all know about his last few years (being benched in NY for Pennington.....and last year's stint with Dallas)......but let's stay on the subject of 1998 for a minute.. As I previously mentioned, the Jets were 1-3, and they were faced with having to bench an ineffective Glenn Foley, with the prospect of having Vinny coming off the bench. Given Vinny's prior history, I'm sure most Jets fans were ready to write off the entire season......some might have already begun thinking ahead to "who will we select in the draft"... And what happened that year? Vinny had the season of a lifetime, only losing 1 game as a starter that year. Also, he threw 29 TDs and only 7 INTERCEPTIONS (which normally is his downfall). Basically, Vinny made alot of "fans" and "experts" look like complete morons. Along with that, he took the Jets to the AFC Championship game, where they lost to the powerhouse Denver Broncos (it should be noted that the Jets had a 10-0 lead on them going into the 3rd qtr). Moral of this story? Don't ever stop rooting for your QB, because you just never know when he's going to deliver. |

To bad there are no fan stats . Lets take Horn : Name Team Games Drops Donald Driver GB 16 11 Darrell Jackson SEA 16 11 Keary Colbert CAR 15 10 Az-Zahir Hakim DET 12 10 Koren Robinson SEA 10 10 Rod Gardner WAS 16 9 Isaac Bruce STL 16 8 Tiki Barber NYG 16 7 Laveranues Coles NYJ 16 7 Joe Horn NO 16 7 Kevin Jones DET 15 7 Terrell Owens PHI 14 7 Jeremy Shockey NYG 15 7 Roy Williams DET 14 7 Stephen Alexander DEN 16 6 Muhsin Muhammad CHI 16 6 Now Horn had 7 drops . Horn was thrown to 153 times in the season Horn caught 94 passes Horn dropped 7 passes . A little basic math will tell us 52 passes went uncatchable . Skippy Brooks :monkey: |

Makes me think of the last game of the season where Tulane with 11-0 (Sean King at the helm, 90's - 50+ points average per game!?!!? -- WOW). At the end of the game, we all charged down to pull down the goalposts. There were a couple hundred of us (which sadly seemed like a quarter of the crowd in the Dome). But... the cops didn't like that much. They charged out of the tunnel (on horses), cuffed us all, and dragged us to the lockups (yes, there are lockups inside the Dome). They let us stew there for about 2 hours. A dean finally came in and *****ed "you idiots just cust the school $11,000!!!".... and then he said (it was beautiful) "And it was worth every penny - let'em all go!". Oh, the Glory Day. Oh, the Glory Days.... |

Just to follow up on vinny, it took 6 years before he had a season where he threw more TDs than INTs, which was on his 7th year, when he was on a new team, in Cleveland. He then went to Baltimore, then ended up on the Jets, where he did well, in his 12th year. SO your suggestion is to hold on to AB until that magical 12th year where he might put it altogether? Aye Carumba. :puke:

Yeah. That's what I've been praying for. If only we had a Vinny Testaverde type QB.

Sure we can... The moral of THIS story will be: you don't need a great quarterback to take a team to a super bowl. See also: Johnson, Brad Dilfer, Trent |

Apples to oranges. Compare Vinny's stats to Aaron's for the first 5 years, and you won't even see a comparison. |
