Pass rush will be paramount against numbnut Rodgers

All said and done the Saints have weathered the injury bug better than most. There are so many key players out now on IR or for the season across the league.

We need to put our healthiest players out there and have them bring their A-game. Let the O-line get more playing time together and run the damn ball down their throats with Murray and Kamara.

When exactly was the last time the Saints offense was run first? Seriously? It was pre-Payton. Payton's offense has always been predicated on setting up the run with the pass. Whether it be downfield, mid-range, or screens and short outs.

2017 Ingram-Kamara was getting it done, until we abandoned that in the playoffs, nearly still won, until Payton/Allen told a rookie safety to avoid downfield contact at all costs...

The run was still set up by the pass in 2017. The same in 2009 when we were top top five run offense. Same exact type of scheme as is being run today. The run being set up by the pass and augmented by the short passing game being an extension of the run.

Maybe it's time to revaluate that pass to set up the run since Drew isn't moving the ball cleanly like he usually does. We have a great run game and need to get more play action plays. I guess the only problem is can the O-line give Drew time for the plays to develop?

Maybe Ruiz will be good coming off his ankle injury and will be a much needed upgrade over the scrub playing RG. His name escapes me for the moment. I've seen posters say that he's doing a good job. But I see busted assignments and a ton of help with chip blocks. Payton has to rework his game plan when he's in the game to make up for his deficiencies. Which in turn leaves us with other points of weakness exposed.

Then we need to run the damn ball like we started last week before we got away from it.

No it wasn't. Legit play-action pass it what had extended Brees' career...

Now teams have to keep an extra safety in the box; smart teams sit on the short routes and make Payton/Brees throw it deep...
