Nonsense. Players are human, fallible, just like you and I. I’ve seen numerous fights and “in a leader’s” face incidents throughout my career in the Army, too numerous to count. This isn’t Library Sciences Management. These are jobs that require force of will upon another human being. I do NOT want my teammates to be “cordial” to one another, doubly so for the opposing team. I want them to challenge each other to the point of destroying another’s confidence. Physically..., Mentally..., and Emotionally. If they are not up to the challenge..., go play for the Cowboys.

Have a look at it from this angle please and tell me if maybe we aren’t in the wrong by doing that.

We don’t make a player a captain, their peers do and they are accountable to their peers.

This is what happens to the player getting the C on their uniform... Hey iceshack149 we have voted you forum captain, we are going to put a C on your user name and we expect you to act in accordance with how we think a captain should act regardless of your nature. They/you didn’t ask for that.

On that same note, I would never expect Coleston to get in someone’s face when they needed their sh1t checked either.

No offense, but if you want to "fight", get in the ring. Outside of that particular sport where there are safeties in place to protect the athletes, and in any other place in life, balling up your fist and striking another human being is 110% wrong. It shows a lack of emotional control.

If you can't resolve your differences in a civil manner counseling is in order. Full stop. This wasn't even a game where emotion is high, and of course that isn't an excuse. This was clearly a personal issue between two men who let their testosterone get the best of their brains.

It's wrong. Full stop.

I'm not talking about the skirmishes in a locker room. I know all about that. I'm referring to clowns that can't solve their issues in the locker room and sell their teammates out through social media. Or whine and wax poetic on social media.

That is a great philosophy to have, in a perfect world full of unicorns and faeries, where nobody makes mistakes and the sky is always sunny. Problem is..., nobody lives in that world, at least none I know of, nor have ppl throughout history either. Evidenced by the number of ppl who’ve died to malice and wars.

Humans are imperfect beings, I’m no judge nor jury to a simple spat between two grown men that doesn’t affect me in the least. Good luck with your seat way upon high, looking down at mere mortal men.

There’s a lot going on in this post that has nothing to do with a simple spat between two grown men that I’m not a party to. Social media and/or clowns have nothing to do with the two men having a confrontation. And I do see this as nothing more than a locker room skirmish. A good argument can be made that MT is fast becoming a prima donna WR, and is contributing to a toxic locker room. That I’ll buy, and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least should it come to full fruition, but that’s an executive and coaching problem and they say they’ve handled it. And this one isolated incident isn’t career defining, imho. I’m a fan of the Saints, not any individual player or coach. I’m equally as critical of Michael Thomas as I am of Drew Brees. One is a young super star, who may very well be the next Antonio Brown, lol, the other an aged QB who is literally on his last leg of being a starting QB. I have to trust in the leadership of the Saints in that they say they have the MT incident handled. And if they don’t, and he becomes truly toxic, week after week, then that’s on the owner, for allowing a “Tom Coughlin” situation to occur.

And it was handled by CSP, so it’s not an issue.

Ppl make make mistakes.

This game is specifically built around dominating your assigned opponent physically, mentally and emotionally 100% unambiguously so. I want my players to individually destroy their assignments (the opposing players) so badly they quit playing and begin crying in the middle of the field, so badly the beaten opponents hang up their cleats and retire from the game.

If you don’t understand why tempers would flare, then we just see two differing versions of “the game”. This isn’t me playing when I was 8 years old in the Mighty Might league; unicorns and faeries aren’t in the locker rooms.

I do understand why tempers flare. I'm a grownup. I also understand that saying, "I punched that guy because my temper flared" is precisely the same as saying, "I can't control my temper."

No excuse for an adult to strike another adult while PRACTICING or PLAYING a game. Control your temper, play within the rules, or get off the field.

Very happy coach agrees. Reasonable people win again...

I agree with you kind of. The punch alone wouldn’t be such a big deal to me if it didn’t seem like there is a pattern developing. When it becomes a pattern there is legitimate reason for concern and I think that’s where we are.
Thomas is at a crossroads in his career, he can use this as a learning experience and wise up or not.
