Why does it matter? They're no different than any other crew. They say the same announcer crap as everyone else while the game is going on, we watch the action and enjoy, and voila, the game is over.

Why? I don't understand the difference between any of them. They are all background noise while I watch the game. I would think radio would be more intrusive while trying to watch.

In general NFC games are assigned to FOX and AFC games to CBS. Romo is the lead announcer for CBS. In interconference games, the network is assigned by the visiting team. These are the rules for Sunday afternoon games. ESPN broadcasts Monday Night, Fox/NFL Network has Thursday night, and NBC has Sunday night.

So, we'll get Romo when an AFC team comes to the Superdome on a Sunday afternoon. That means we'll see that crew December 20th when the Chiefs come to town.

There are exceptions. It is possible for the NFL to cross-flex a game, sending a NFC only game to CBS or a AFC only game to FOX or an interconference game to the home team's network. The networks will do all they can to hold on to a hot game for the week (ratings). But sometimes the #2 or #3 game of the week might get crossflexed over to the other network. So, December 20th may not be the only time we get Romo. But it's the most likely.

The difference is that I actually listen to these guys during the game hoping for a nugget of Saints info. I realize that I complain about the subjects that announcers talk about during Saints games when I'm expecting to hear something related to the Saints instead of sucking up to Tom Brady or Dallas! :argue:

One more thing. Buck and Aikman are so monotone that they don't get me up for a game with exciting commentary and the occasional voice inflection. If I had a difficult child that I was trying to put to sleep I'd just play a game they announced and the baby would be asleep in no time. Did I mention that they are boring?

There could be a significant shake up soon. It all starts with NBC, appears Al Michaels is close to retirement, and Drew Brees appears to be penciled in as a color analyst. NBC may need to find a new play by play guy to team with Brees, and would make Collinsworth a free agent. Then we can never rule out Peyton Manning getting a color analyst job and would likely be elevated to the top team immediately.

I like Romo and always thought he got a bad wrap in Dallas, when he was on his game the guy made that offense go.

And like you said, he's humble enough to point out his shortcomings when describing the game in a way that tells the viewer what certain concepts should look like and how they work.

Buck and Aikman have always annoyed me to some extent but it really got worse when they freaked out over MT copying Joe Horns celebration with the flip phone.

In a day and age where football should be an escape, to see how they responded to someone enjoying the game and an old fan favourite celebration was sickening.
