Vikings release OL Pat Elflein a day after activating him from IR
Worth a look?
The former third-round pick earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team in 2017 after starting 14 games at center for the Vikings. He played the same role in 2018, but he was switched to guard in 2019 after Minnesota drafted Garrett Bradbury in the first round of that year’s draft. Elflein started 15 games at guard in 2019, and he started the 2020 season opener before tearing a thumb ligament. That injury forced Elflein to land on the IR, and after returning to practice three weeks ago, his IR-DTR window had recently come to an end. Therefore, the Vikings had no other choice than to activate Elflein. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...0h?li=BB15ms5q |

What position does he play? I'm not impressed with Hurst in the least and would love an upgrade.
We've got good depth on the interior. Not great but good. Ruiz still has some growing to do before he's a full grown man. I believe that he's only 21 and will benefit greatly from an NFL weight program. With a year in the system maybe we can move him to center next season so he can make the line calls which is one of the reasons we drafted him. We have a great line but we saw what happened when our starters are out. Let's bring in Elflein and see if he can contribute. |

The Vikings OL has been playing out of their mind lately. Elflein must have been the odd man out.

Pat Elflein isn't an upgrade over Hurst and has declined in production ever since the injuries over the years.

The Saints have the best OL in the NFL taking into account starters, backups, and the versatility of the group all around.
